Moguai
Moguai (born August 9, 1973 in Recklinghausen ; real name André Tegeler ) is a German music producer and DJ . For his productions of the Sugababes , the Girls Aloud and 2Raumwohnung he received a gold record and double platinum . His DJ sets are a mix of Tech House , House , Breaks and Electro House , where he always jumps between the different genres.
At the beginning of the 1990s, Tegeler named himself Moguai and began his career as a DJ with self-organized parties in the Ruhr area and Münsterland . Due to his early start with electronic dance music, he was one of the first "techno DJs" in Germany and is one of their pioneers alongside Paul van Dyk , WestBam and Sven Väth . Moguai is one of the most successful German DJs on the international scene and plays in clubs and festivals around the world.
Moguai is the husband of actress Birte Glang .
life and career
After completing secondary school, Moguai completed a two-year apprenticeship as a butcher in his parents' company and became the youngest butcher journeyman in North Rhine-Westphalia . He then continued his school career, graduated from the Freiherr-von-Stein-Gymnasium in Recklinghausen and began studying law at the Ruhr University in Bochum after completing his civil service . This was also the time when his musical career began.
In 1994 Moguai produced his first record Best Before End EP together with Jürgen Driessen , which was released on the Essen label Important Records and recorded in Ramon Zenker's studio (producer of Hardfloor and Bellini ) in Düsseldorf. He worked with Phil Fuldner in 1995 and founded PUNX Studios with him . The two musicians had their greatest successes with The Final , their version of the theme song of the cult manga series Captain Future , as well as the drum title Beatbox , which was the first instrumental drum title to stay in the German Top40 of Media Control for ten weeks.
Moguai also made a name for himself as a remixer during this time: he worked for artists such as Giorgio Moroder , Yves Deruyter , Timo Maas , Planet Funk , Talla 2XLC , Cosmic Baby , BBE , Fischerspooner and 2raumwohnung .
As a producer he worked with the two internationally successful British girl bands Sugababes and Girls Aloud in 2002 and 2003 . Both produced tracks In the Middle (Sugababes) and Something kinda oooh (Girls Aloud) are based on Moguai's singles U Know Y and Get On . For both projects, Moguai was awarded double platinum records in England. Through his work as a remixer , there was also a collaboration with 2raumwohnung . The resulting single Sasha (Sex Secret) achieved gold status with the accompanying album Es wird Morgen in 2005. Since 2009 Moguai has published his music on the label of the Canadian DJ and music producer Deadmau5 .
In April 2010 he released his debut album We Ar Lyve with the singles Impereal , Nyce and Oyster . This makes Moguai one of the first acts of the label Mau5trap to release an album, alongside Deadmau5 and Skrillex , who won three Grammys in 2012 . In March 2011, published in cooperation between the labels Mau5trap and Beatport Moguai Lyve from Beta -Musikcompilation. This allows the listener to use the music software Ableton to replay, restructure or replace parts of the DJ set that Moguai recorded in the Club Beta in Denver (USA) . The whole setup only contains specially produced titles by Moguai, who provided these titles in all individual tracks (bass, drums, melodies, vocals). This project led Moguai to combine his DJ sets and performances with live elements, making him one of the few DJs in this field who combine DJing with live play. Since 2000, Moguai has been a radio DJ and presenter at 1 Live (Westdeutscher Rundfunk / WDR) and has been an integral part of the 1LIVE DJ Session format (previously 1Live Rocker ), which can be heard every Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Moguai always plays the first 60 minutes, while the second hour belongs to a constantly changing guest DJ. Moguai has been part of the Sputnik Residents program on the MDR Sputnik radio station since 2007 and can be heard there every third Saturday of the month.
In 2008 Moguai started his own monthly podcast Punx Up The Volume , which can also be heard as a radio broadcast in the UK, USA, Australia, Russia and Brazil and has over 15,000 subscribers. Since 2009 there has also been a two-hour format of the same name every fourth Thursday on the German radio station Sunshine Live .
