Hardfloor is a techno project by the producer - duo Ramon Zenker from Meerbusch and Oliver Bondzio from Krefeld . In the 1990s they mainly devoted themselves to acid techno .

history

The first two singles Let da Bass go and Drug Overlord were released in 1991 on the Eye Q Records record label . The significantly harder sound of Hardfloor compared to other releases of Eye Q was later named by Sven Väth as one of the reasons that led to the founding of the Harthouse sub-label .

In 1992, Acperience appeared on Harthouse and became one of the techno club hits of the early 1990s. The concise use of the TB 303 became Hardfloor's trademark. After the album TB Resuscitation and the single releases Trancescript (1993) and Into the Nature (1994), the duo produced the anniversary edition Harthouse 50 with the title Fish & Chips in 1994 . In the same year the album Respect followed with the single Mahogany Roots , for whose artwork the artist George Dare was engaged.

1995 Hardfloor completed with the album Da damn Phreak Noize Phunk? a break in style. Instead of the regular techno rhythms up to now, the music was based more on big beat and funk , but did not dispense with the typical hardfloor use of the Roland TB 303. The album title also became the name of a new project by Zenker and Bondzio with which they Released a Big Beat album on the Stud! O K7 label in 1999 .

In 1997 a Best of Hardfloor was released with the duo's most successful productions and remixes. Including the hardfloor remix of It's no good ( Depeche Mode ), Blue Monday ( New Order ) and Our Darkness ( Anne Clark ). But the best known was the remix by Yeke Yeke ( Mory Kanté ), which was also included here and was used in a shorter edit version in the Danny Boyle film The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio .

The two Rhinelander have a fan base especially in Japan, the home country of the TB 303. They have been giving guest performances there every year since 1994. Further international gigs took place at festivals such as the Tribal Gathering and Universe in Great Britain, the Arvikafestival in Sweden, the Quart Festival in Norway, as well as Mayday , Time Warp and Nature One in Germany.

In 1998, after the bankruptcy of Eye Q, they released the album All Targets Down on the Harthouse label, which has since been acquired by the UCMG (Undercover Music Group) from the bankruptcy estate. Shortly after the album So What? In 2000 the UCMG also went bankrupt, whereupon the duo decided to found their own label www.hardfloor.de. After a few maxi single releases, they released the album 4 Out Of 5 Aliens Recommend This in 2005 and the mix CD Our Acid Experience in 2006 for the 15th anniversary of HMV Japan .
