Phuture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phuture is an American music group from Chicago that produced Acid Trax, a pioneering piece for electronic dance music in 1987 . The piece is mainly based on the sound of the Roland TB-303 and is considered one of the earliest acid house pieces.

history

The group was founded in 1985 by DJ Pierre and Spanky and Herb J to produce records that DJ Pierre then incorporated into his DJ sets in Chicago's clubs . Herb J left the band on the follow-up single We Are Phuture and was replaced by DJ Roy Davis, Jr. DJ Pierre was replaced by Professor Trax a few releases later.

The group launched Inside Out in 1992 and then took a four-year hiatus to reorganize under the name Phuture 303 in 1996 . A year later the album Alpha & Omega (with DJ Skull) came out.
