The Nature One ( spelling NATURE ONE ) is one of the largest European festivals of electronic dance music and took place for the first time in 1995.
background
Nature One is one of the largest electronic music festivals in Europe and usually takes place on the first weekend in August on the former Pydna rocket base in the Hunsrück . On the Pydna site (correct name: Wüschheim Air Station, WAS), 96 cruise missiles ready to be fired and equipped with nuclear warheads were to be stored from 1986/1987 as a result of NATO's double resolution .
On the site, a place in the Friday and Saturday night open air - Rave with internationally renowned DJs instead. The unofficial beginning is already apparent on Thursday with a large opening event. One of the largest tent cities in Germany is forming on an approximately 100 hectare arable area belonging to the local community of Hasselbach .
The site is divided into different areas. There are four major stages on which different genres of electronic music are represented. Mostly commercial dance music is played on the open air floor today, originally trance was mainly played here. In Century Circus, the largest covered area, you can hear techno , in the home base house music is played and in the Classic Terminal, DJs from various genres perform, who have long been known in the field of electronic music. The names of these four main stages varied a little over time: the home base was formerly called Red Bull House and then House of House. Various well-known techno clubs from Germany and Europe are represented in the bunkers of the former rocket base and in the additional tents of various sponsors (e.g. Abstract / U60311 , Tresor Berlin , Airport Würzburg , Stammheim Kassel , Cocoon Club and Tunnel Club (Hamburg / Reeperbahn)).
The festival is illuminated from afar by an artistic light design. This light show works mainly with laser and LED technology and is redesigned every year. On the night from Saturday to Sunday, there will be fireworks at 1 o'clock in the morning , accompanied by the festival anthem on the outdoor dance floor ("Open Air Floor").
Nature One is a festival that aims to unite different styles of electronic music. That is why every year the solidarity of the fans of electronic music is an important key point in the development of Nature One.
geography
The festival is characterized by its rural, but easily accessible location on a historically and architecturally extraordinary site (former rocket base).
Timetable
history
The first Nature One took place in 1995 on the grounds of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport . The following year, Nature One was relocated to the site of the former Pydna missile base, where it still takes place today. 1997 was the first time the opportunity to camp there on the days of the event. The following year, the first clubs had their own floor ( dance area ) on Nature One. There were seven in 1998, eleven in 1999 and sixteen clubs were represented there in 2003.
The Pydna area has been used for military purposes again since 2005, mainly from the neighboring Bundeswehr site . Nevertheless, the Nature One event can still take place on this square. In the same year a person died at Nature One. A 19-year-old boy was found lifeless in his tent. According to the public prosecutor's office in Bad Kreuznach, he died of the consequences of taking heroin and ecstasy . It was not only since this incident that the police and customs have been carrying out systematic vehicle and drug controls on the access and exit routes to the event. After the event in 2007, the police had a public discussion about the abolition of Nature One. The reason given was the large number of violations of the Narcotics Act . Eve & rave Münster eV has been supporting the organizer since 2002 with drug information stands on the festival site and the campsite.
In 2007 and 2008 there was a Nature One in Poland in addition to Nature One on the Hunsrück . This was held in Katowice and had between 4,000 and 5,000 visitors. In the following years I-Motion did not pursue this project any further. In addition, the Nature One site on the Pydna was expanded by around 20,000 square meters in 2008. In previous years this area was a restricted military area. The Classic Terminal dance floors and the House of House were relocated to this new area, and the USB - Hardtechno Family Club was also located there. In 2010, Nature One was voted the best electronic dance music event by readers of Raveline magazine for the tenth year running . In order to expand the Century Circus , the largest area where techno is played, the areas of the Century Circus and the Classic Terminal were swapped in 2011.
In order to ensure a stable and reliable cell phone connection for all visitors, an additional large radio mast was erected on the south side of the site (camping site) in July 2012, which also serves to permanently improve the cell phone connection of the neighboring communities.
Visitor numbers and mottos
Every year the event attracts tens of thousands of guests from all over Germany and Europe , with the majority of foreign visitors from the nearby Netherlands , Belgium , Luxembourg , France , Austria and Switzerland being represented. anthem
An anthem of the same name has been produced every year since 1998. This is under the pseudonym Nature One Inc. publishes. There are changing DJ teams behind this pseudonym. The hymns were produced from 2002 to 2004 by DJ Shog and the E-Cutz team. The 2008 anthem "Wake Up In Yellow" was written by ATB and Josh Gallahan, and the 2010 anthem was produced by Woody van Eyden .
The 2011 anthem with the motto “go wild - freak out” was again produced by ATB together with Tom Novy .
Since 2012 Jerome (Kontor Rec.) Has been producing the official anthems for the Nature One Festival. Overall, it is the 5th anthem in a row in 2016 and in 2016 it was "Red Dancing Flames".
The hymns of 2017 (“We Call It Home”) and 2018 (“All you need to be”) were produced by DJ Cuebrick, who is also under contract with Kontor.
In 2019 Nature One celebrated its 25th anniversary, for which DJ Neelix created the anthem The Twenty Five.
The festival did not take place in 2020. The reason was the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic , a viral disease, the spread of which was to be countered by official prohibition of major events of any kind.
