David Maurice "Dave" Clarke (* 19th September 1968 in Brighton , England ) is a British techno - musicians , DJ and radio host .

In addition to his productions as Dave Clarke, he also publishes his music under the pseudonyms 1016 , Difficult Child , Directional Force , Fly By Wire , Graphite , Hardcore , KOD , Ortanique and Pig City .

Life

Dave Clarke started out as a hip-hop DJ and later moved on to acid house . He was one of the first and most prolific techno producers from Great Britain, but he cannot be pinned down to one style. Together with his wife Laura-Jane, he ran the Magnetic North label from 1992 to 1996 , on which EPs by Cristian Vogel and Adam X were also released. Clarke has been publishing his productions on the British label Skint since 2001 .

Dave Clarke is known for his remixes for artists like Depeche Mode , Moby , Underworld , DJ Rush and Laurent Garnier . His discography features a large number of club hits; The Red Two and Southside, which appeared on the Bush and Deconstruction labels, should be mentioned here in particular . In addition to his regular releases, he also produced several mix CDs. Its on Studio K7! published contribution to the X-Mix series helped the style of electro to new popularity.

Clarke is or was resident DJ in clubs such as Bugged Out !, Pure, Atomic Jam and Headstart in the UK, Barcelona's Nitsa and the prestigious Brussels club Fuse.

As one of the few techno artists, he has been invited several times to a peel session , the BBC radio show by British DJ John Peel .
