Laurent Garnier (born February 1, 1966 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a French techno producer and DJ .

Life

Garnier initially trained as a hotel manager and worked, among other places, in Manchester , where he experienced the hype surrounding the acid house genre during the 1980s and began working as a DJ. As the DJ for The Haçienda club in Manchester, Garnier pioneered the so-called Madchester scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s .

Since the mid-1990s, Garnier has focused on his work as a music producer and with the release of studio albums in the house genre. In addition to Éric Morand, he is the founder of the F Communications label . Garnier is also the author of a book dealing with the history of electronic music and his work as a DJ.
