Boogie Pimps started as a musical project by the two Erfurt DJs Mark J Klak and formerly Mirko Jacob .

From summer 2005 to 2006 DJ Mighty YO was part of the Boogie Pimps. Since the end of 2006 the Boogie Pimps became a German-Australian formation. Jon Henderson from Sydney has been an integral part of Mark J Klak's group ever since.
The cooperation began in 1999 when Mark J Klak came across Mirko at Antenne Thuringia , who had his own radio show " Der Club" there. They hit it off right away, and Mark invited Mirko over to his own club, Joue Joue. The Boogie Pimps were born after the name Disco Bitches was still under discussion.
In autumn 2002 the Boogie Pimps released their first record together after a long tinkering in the studio, initially a private pressing . The name was Saltshaker. The original was from Jefferson Airplane . This promo was so successful that the German record label Superstar Recordings noticed it and signed it. Later, in 2003, the record was no longer called Saltshaker , but Somebody to love . With this hit they reached the top ten of the British and Australian charts in early 2004.
Her second single Sunny is also a cover version . The original is from Bobby Hebb .
In 2004 a cover “Right out of here” or “Make 'em Drop” appeared on a whitelabel that was only available to a limited extent under the pseudonym “Pimps Guerilla”. While "Make 'em Drop" made it to some compilations, "Right out of here" is not commercially available with the exception of the white label. This could be due to legal reasons, text and melody from the end of the Queen title Bohemian Rhapsody are used in part.
At the beginning of 2008 the Boogie Pimps switched from Super Star Records to Kontor Records in Hamburg.
