Tocadisco (born June 9, 1974 in Berlin ; real name Roman Böer ) is a German DJ and producer and multi-instrumentalist specializing in house , electro house, techno & tech house . The name Tocadisco is based on the Spanish word "el tocadiscos" ("record player").

Life

Born in Berlin, but grew up as the son of the photographer and media designer Gerry Böer in Mönchengladbach, where he also plays regularly at the Die Nacht club .

In 1996 Tocadisco began his professional career as a DJ at Club Unique in Düsseldorf . With him as a DJ, the club was voted the best club in town several times by Prinz magazine . In 2000 Tocadisco moved to Cologne and set up his studio there.

He produced numerous remixes for various record companies. The best known was Lifetimes from Slam . His mix was voted one of the twelve best remixes of 2001 by readers of Groove magazine . In October 2003 he signed a contract with the German record company Superstar Recordings . His first single under this label was Nobody (Likes the Records That I Play) . It reached number 39 in the German charts. In 2005, Tocadisco was voted one of the best newcomers of 2004 by Raveline magazine .

In 2005, his Zwischen den Stühlen remix of Mylos In My Arms became one of the most played dance tracks of the year. This was followed by his second single You're No Good for Me and his double single Music Loud / Crazy Cursor .

Tocadisco released a number of EPs on Superstar Recordings under the pseudonym AC / OT . In September 2006 Tocadisco remixed a track from Michael Cretu's project Enigma - Eppur si muove from Enigma 's last album A Posteriori .

His remix for The Egg - Walking Away (Great Stuff Records) was selected by Citroën for the advertising campaign for the Model C4. Furthermore, David Guetta used the instrumental and mixed it with one of his greatest hits Love Don't Let Me Go as a bootleg version and thus reached number 3 in the English charts.

His first album Solo was released on January 25, 2008 . In August of the same year, the single Tomorrow Can Wait was successful together with David Guetta and Chris Willis . On September 18, 2009 his second album TOCA 128.0 FM was released by Superstar Recordings. In 2011 the single Tequila Sunrise was released , which was released on Wall / Spinnin Records in collaboration with the Dutch producer Afrojack .

TOCA45 Recordings is his own record label, TOCACABANA is his radio show (60 stations in 40 countries) and his party series, which was launched in 2010 with his wife Nathizinha in Cologne in the “Bootshaus” club. Together with his wife, Tocadisco also runs the artist booking agency Morumbi Booking .

In 2012 he created a remix for Milk & Sugars Let the Sunshine . He also released his third album FR3E initially as a free download and then on the German label WePlay . In the same year, the single That Miami Track was released in collaboration with Julian Smith .

In 2013 Fatboy Slim and Riva Starr feat Beardyman used a sample of Tocadisco's track Bat3ria (from his third album FR3E ) and created their hit Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat . However, the sample was not officially approved initially. But after a short negotiation, Tocadisco was involved as the songwriter. In 2013 the track Falling was released on the British label Toolroom Recordings .

In 2014 Tocadisco made it to number 1 in the German dance charts twice with his remixes for Faul & Wad Ad - Changes and Robin Schulz - Sun goes down . Tocadisco worked with Toolroom Records and the company M-Audio on a musical instrument released in 2014 called “Trigger Finger Pro”.

In 2015 Tocadisco released a number of EPs on his label Toca 45 Recordings (Brasil EP, Snake EP). On May 1, 2016, Tocadisco's fourth album IV was released on TOCA45 Recordings. In 2016 a remix for the Australian group Yolanda be cool - From me to you (Tocadisco Remix) was released on the Dutch label Spinnin Records. It is based on a version of a Beatles classic sung by Bobby McFerrin .
