The Egg is an electro-funk band, which in the 1990s in Oxford ( England was founded).

Band history

The Egg consists of twin brothers Ned and Maff Scott, bassist Dave Gaydon and guitarist Mark Revell. Her debut EP Shopping was released in 1995 by the independent label Cup Of Tea Records . Before they released their first album Albumen , The Egg signed their recording contract with the indie label China Records , where the album was released.

During their performances, all band members are dressed in white and thus act as human cinema screens by projecting films and images onto their clothing. In a review of her show, Melody Maker described the event as "rapid psychedelia meets Aunt Harriet's Home Movies". The band gained further notoriety when they staged a benefit concert for the residents of the distant Scottish island of Isle Of Eigg at the Glasgow restaurant "The Ferry" to help local residents buy the island from an apathetic owner.

"Travelator" was released in 1998, and China Records was taken over by Major Warner Music shortly thereafter . The band then took a break before returning in 2004 with "Forwards". The album sold pretty well and the band got a couple of festival appearances, including the Glastonbury Festival.
