Mauro Picotto (* 25. December 1966 in Cavour ) is a from Turin originating Techno - DJ and music producer . His style can be largely assigned to progressive techno .

Life

At the end of the 1980s, still more devoted to ghetto beats, he reached the final of the DMC Competition in 1988 before becoming part of the dance scene at the beginning of the 90s. In 1995 he founded his own label with BXR (which was to become one of the largest Italian dance labels in the following years) and is henceforth one of the fathers and constant reference for the Italian electronics scene. With the growing success, the sublabels Underground Records and Sacrifice Records were founded in addition to the BXR label. Well-known performers included Mario Più (aka DJ Arabesque), Athos Botti, Gabry Fasano, Franchino, Massimo Cominotto, Bismark and Ricky Effe to name just a few. Ricky Effe also known as Riccardo Ferri, Athos, Massimo Cominotto & Gabry Fasano followed Mauro Picotto in 2004 to the newly founded label Alchemy Records, which can now look back on over six years of successful existence and over 40 releases. His Meganite sessions are one of the biggest events in the world. Performances in Miami & Ibiza (in Space since 2010) are just a few highlights among the fans.

In addition to the Italian trio Eiffel 65 , who also come from Turin, DJ Lhasa and Gigi D'Agostino , Mauro Picotto became one of the top DJs on the Italian music scene, especially from the year 2000. His greatest single success was with the trance track Komodo (Save A Soul) from 2000. It contains a quote from the 1992 song "Sweet Lullaby" by Deep Forest .

His mix of club and techno beats makes him an artist of his genre. Mauro Picotto collaborated with several other trance DJs including Tiësto and Mario Più. He also worked as a producer and remixer for other projects, such as B. Cappella and 49ers. Together with Andrea Remondini, he also had several chart successes with the music project CRW . Her best known single was "I Feel Love", which reached number 15 in the British singles charts.

Mauro Picotto was also released on the DJ Set (2005) by Gabry Ponte with the single Funky Time (2005). With his new album Superclub (2005) he is back in the Italian charts. Mauro Picotto is also an avowed Star Wars fan.

On the occasion of his twentieth DJ anniversary, he presented his fans with his album, Now and Then (2007), with old songs, but also newly composed tracks. The fans are offered what they do best, namely a mix of classic and varied songs that are attractive to every electronic fanatic.

style

Especially in the songs Lizard (Gonna Get You) and Serendipity (with Mario Piu aka DJ Arabesque), in addition to rhythm, bass and beats, numerous vibezes are mixed in, which evoke a sometimes gloomy and characteristic sequence of overlays. These overlays vary between short and long rhythmic and melodic motifs in his songs. In its early years it was more likely to be assigned to progressive techno until, at the end of the nineties, it was mainly oriented towards the club techno scene.

All in all, he composes and (re) mixes his songs in the classic techno tempo between 130 and 200 bpm , but some songs achieve far higher bpm numbers than usual. The best example of excessive use of beats is his new edition Iguana 2004. He appears weekly at the Ibiza Party Session, mixes and puts on records and meets other techno representatives.
