Cappella

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cappella is an Italian Eurodance , House and Techno project , which enjoyed international success, especially in the 1990s.

biography

Cappella was founded in 1975 as The Cappella-Project and at that time consisted exclusively of songwriters who wrote songs for other groups. The name Cappella in Italian refers to the Renaissance frescoes and the chapels. It was chosen to highlight the idea of "rebirth". Just as the Renaissance period is linked to the idea of the rebirth of culture, so Cappella's music is linked to the idea of the rebirth of the dance floor. Cappella was the idea of Gianfranco Bortolotti, who brought the media team together in 1987 and created the track Bauhaus / Push the Beat . Bauhaus celebrated great success in clubs all over the world - Cappella's first breakthrough. A year later, Helyom Halib was released with rapper Ettore Foresti , who had good success in the charts, such as number 11 in the British Top 40. The success went with House of Alkali , Be Master in One's Own House , House Energy Revenge , Get Out of My Case and The Rotation of the House continue.

The next song, Take Me Away , was a collaboration with Loleatta Holloway and the Media Records team. Cappella's success experienced rapid growth with new rapper Rodney Bishop , singer Kelly Overett and the release of the single U Got 2 Know in 1993, which was in the top 10 in England and in the top 30 other European countries and thus was the first European success. Also in 1993, U Got 2 Let the Music was released. The song contains the characteristic synth melody of Alphaville's Sounds Like a Melody and marked the final breakthrough in Europe. Cappella achieved further international chart successes with Move On Baby (No. 1 in Switzerland), which was published in 1994. In the same year the album U Got 2 Know was released . from this the singles U & Me , Move It Up and Don't Be Proud (1995) were extracted.

1995 brought some changes to the Cappella front people. Kelly Overett left the group to start a solo career. Kelly's first and so far only solo song Follow Your Heart (artist name Kelly-O) was not very successful and was only released in England.

In the summer of 1995, Allison Jordan succeeded Kelly Overett. She came to the act through a casting. The song Tell Me the Way was released with her. The second track, I Need Your Love, followed in January 1996 . In 1996, Cappella's third album was released. War in Heaven could not build on the success of its predecessor. The released singles were called Turn It Up and Down (1996) and Do You Run Away Now (1997, only in Scandinavia).

In 1997 a new single was released with Be My Baby , with which Cappella changed the music style. U Tore My World Apart followed in November . Cappella's 4th album was only released in Japan in 1998. It contains 12 different tracks, including slower songs, and was called Cappella . From these, Throwin 'Away (MP3) and Walkin' Away (Vinyl) coupled in Japan as singles. A remix of U Got 2 Let the Music followed in November . The maxi CD contains Leave It , a track that has never been released before. At the end of 1998 UR the Power of Love was released in Germany. Cappella have not been able to build on their old successes since 1995.

In 1999 Gianfranco Bortolotti confirmed the end of Cappella. He'll take care of Cappella again when he finds time for the project, which was read. With this end of Cappella, Allison Jordan and Rodney Bishop also left the act.

In October 2000 there were rumors of Cappella returning. At Media Records Italy the following could be read:

"The Return of the Media Star": From Media Recording Studios is ready a new bumper sound, emblematic for the history of dance music: the new Cappella single. The title is unknown, but the style is very happy energy massive. Stay in tune for other Cappella news.

This message was withdrawn very quickly. Then in 2001 a promo was issued, a new edition by U & Me . However, this single did not go on sale. It wasn't until the summer of 2002 that a new single finally came. A remix of U Got 2 Know was released on vinyl. The CD was released at the beginning of October 2002. In the summer of 2004, the new song Angel was released , but could not build on the great success. A placement in the sales charts was not achieved.

On December 13, 2004 a remix of an old single was released, this time a new edition of U Got 2 Let the Music . After the reissue of the 1996 album War in Heaven , which was released in June 2005, the next album by Cappella followed just two months later. This time it was a best of with well-known songs. A DVD was also released.

In 2006, U Got 2 Let the Music Remix was re-released in the Golden-Dance-Classics series by ZYX-Music. The album Greatest Hits followed at the end of October 2006 .

In November 2013 the new front people of Cappella became known as part of a 90s festival in Holland. These are the British couple Marcus (rap) and Lis Birks (singer).
