Deep Forest is a music group consisting of the French musicians Eric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez . The world or ethnic music of the two combines electronic sounds with recordings of chants and noises from all over the world, e.g. B. Africa or Asia .
history
Sanchez studied music in Paris and experimented with combining ethnic and pop music . Mouquet, who up to this point had mainly made pure synthesizer music as an autodidact , brought the ambient dance sound with him. In 1992, the first album Deep Forest was released, which was nominated for a Grammy in 1993 as Best World Album . In 1996 the album Boheme won this title. One of the singers on this album is the Hungarian singer Márta Sebestyén , who sang the theme song Szerelem, szerelem in the film The English Patient .
In Germany, Deep Forest was best known in the 1990s for the fact that the title Sweet Lullaby was played in the background of the football broadcast Anpfiff on RTL . In 1999 the musician Mauro Picotto also used parts of Sweet Lullaby as a sample for his single Komodo (Save A Soul).
Deep Forest worked with musicians like Peter Gabriel and Cheb Mami .
