Adiemus
Adiemus is a music project by the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins . Moreover, it is Adiemus also the title of a song that Jenkins 1994 for a commercial of the American airline Delta Air Lines composed. It is featured on the Songs of Sanctuary album .
Music genre
Karl Jenkins combines harmonious choral singing and orchestra in an ethnic way, similar to Enigma . The "language" that is used is an invention of Jenkins and consists of made up syllables and words, whereby the language becomes meaningless and the voice can come to the fore as an instrument. Often words appear that are very similar to Latin or African languages. Often times , Adiemus is viewed as Celtic music or New Age . The exception is the album Adiemus V , whose songs are rather jazzy .

Miriam Stockley sang on the first four albums . Mary Carewe , who was involved in the first two albums and the fourth, was called in as an additional voice . On the third album, Dances of Time , a group of Finnish singers participated, who also participated in Vocalise again.
On the first three albums, the music was recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO). Karl Jenkins later founded an Adiemus orchestra for the album The Eternal Knot , which was also the soundtrack for a six-part documentary about the Celts (produced by Welsh broadcaster S4C, broadcast in Germany by Phoenix ). For Vocalise , however, he hired the LPO again.
