Career

Beginnings in Manchester

After hearing a friend's dance-music mixtape for the first time at the age of 12, Knight started out as a DJ himself. He mentions Carl Cox and Axwell as his influences at the time . At the age of 15 he started making music. To finance this, he worked as a teenager in a market. At the age of 18 he came to Manchester and promoted parties at which he played himself. Under the name Kryder, a nickname from school days, derived from his last name and the TV series Knight Rider , he will become an integral part of Manchester's club scene for the next few years. After he completely devoted himself to production again, the track K2 was created in 2011 . Then Tiësto became aware of him and released the song under his label Musical Freedom . In addition, Kryder was allowed to play in front of him at Privilege Ibiza in front of 8,000 visitors, which is how he achieved his first international fame.

International success & label formation

In 2012, Kryder started his label Sosumi , which he used to promote young talent. Since every track was a free track, the label was nicknamed “The World's No. 1 Free Dance Music Label ".

In 2013 he had his final breakthrough with the festival track Aphrodite . This was released under Axwell's label Axtone and reached the top 5 on the Beatport charts. There was a closer collaboration with producer Tom Staar: After a joint remix for Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child in 2012, other joint productions followed such as Jericho (2014) and Da Puta Madre , which won the IDMA Award in 2016 in the Best Latin Track category. Together they founded the label Cartel Recordings , which is a sub-label of Spinnin '. The first release called The Chant by Kryder itself was very popular.

In 2015 he was elected to the (extended) DJ-Mag list for the first time and ranked 108th. In 2016 he reached 132nd.

With further productions and remixes etc. a. for Armin van Buuren , Kölsch and Robin Schulz , Kryder has established itself as an integral part of the line-up of the most important EDM festivals worldwide such as Tomorrowland , Parookaville , Electric Love , Ultra and Mysteryland . His track Unity served as the official festival anthem for the sensation Chile. According to 1001Tracklist, he was one of the ten artists most played by other DJs at festivals in 2017. His weekly radio show, Kryteria Radio , is broadcast by 100 radio stations worldwide and has 100,000 weekly subscribers on iTunes. Kryder founded the label of the same name in 2018. At the same time, Sosumi was discontinued with the 100th release. The first release on Kryteria Records was a collaboration between Kryder and Steve Angello called Romani . The track was first performed at Tomorrowland 2017 by Steve Angello and was officially released on July 20, 2018. Kryteria is also a sub-label of Spinnin '.

In January 2020, Kryder announced the comeback of his label Sosumi Records . In April 2020, further announcements followed on his Facebook page and in his weekly radio show Kryteria Radio , in which he also awarded the first new track.
