Krewella is an American music duo from Chicago . Krewella was founded in 2007 as a trio consisting of Kris Trindl (also Rain Man ) and the sisters Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf. The group's first publications were made in 2011. In 2014, Trindl left the group.

Career

Krewella began producing their own music in 2007, but did not publish anything until their first song Life of the Party in 2011, which they recorded together with S-Preme. This song and strobelights appeared on the SoundCloud music platform . June 2012 Krewella released her first EP Play Hard . A remix EP called Play Harder was also released in December 2012. The remixes were produced by the Pegboard Nerds and Dirtyphonics , among others . With the title Alive , the band was able to record their first chart success, they reached a placement in the top 50 in the United States and Canada after they had signed a contract with Columbia Records .

A first full studio album Get Wet was released on September 20, 2013 and reached number 45 on the Australian charts. The album was also a success in the US album charts and was able to advance to number 8. The track Live for the Night was released as the second single in the summer of 2013 and brought Krewella to the Billboard single charts again.

In September 2014 it was announced that the DJ, producer, songwriter and composer Kris Trindl is no longer part of the band. He claimed he was unfairly kicked out of the group and sued the sisters for $ 5 million in compensation. They then filed a counterclaim and accused Trindl, in addition to his known drug and alcohol problems, that he was only pretending to be a DJ on stage. In the end, he left the group. In August 2015, the parties agreed on a settlement, the terms of which were not published.

On May 20, 2016 they released their third EP Ammunition . In the same year it was announced that their single Somewhere To Run will be included in the soundtrack of the film NERVE , which will be released in German cinemas on September 8, 2016.
