Tyler Marenyi (born October 11, 1990 in Stamford, Connecticut ), better known by his stage name Nghtmre (pronounced: Nightmare), is an American DJ and trap producer from Los Angeles , California .

Marenyi was born in Stamford, Connecticut and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina . He attended Elon University and earned a degree in finance before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a musical career. There he attended the Icon Collective Music Production School, where he met his later producer colleagues Derek and Scott from SLANDER and built a working relationship that led to numerous collaborations. Together they went on tour frequently as headlining acts.

Career

2014-2015

At first he created trap and house remixes of songs by Tiësto , Rae Sremmurd and Skrillex. Later he started producing his own songs and collaborating with other producers. He gained greater notoriety from the time Skrillex played one of his songs during a set at the Ultra Music Festival . Marenyi eventually signed with Diplo's record label Mad Decent and released his first song Street shortly afterwards . He made his debut at EDC Las Vegas in 2015, his first festival appearance. He toured and worked regularly with Slander, with whom he released his debut EP Nuclear Bonds , which was later also released on Mad Decent.

2016 – today

In 2016 the NGHTMRE EP was released , which made it into Billboard's Top Dance / Electronic Albums charts. He worked with pegboard nerds to release Superstar as a single on Vancouver- based Monstercat label. He later worked with producer Dillon Francis to release the single Need You on Mad Decent. An official music video for the song was released by Francis on May 9, 2016 on YouTube . He later worked with Flux Pavilion to release Feel Your Love as a single on his Circus Records label. He worked with rapper Afro to release the single Stronger , which was also released on Mad Decent. He also worked with Toronto-based duo Zeds Dead to release Frontlines as a single, which would later be released on their debut album Northern Lights through their label Deadbeats. He worked with LOUDPVCK to release Click Clack as a single on Skrillex's OWSLA label.
