Sia [ siːə ] (* 18th December 1975 as Sia Kate Isobelle Furler in Adelaide , South Australia ) is an Australian singer and songwriter . She became internationally known through her work with Zero 7 and her collaboration with David Guetta .

Career

1995 to 2000 "OnlySee" and "Healing Is Difficult"

Sia was part of the Australian acid jazz formation Crisp , which released the two albums Word and the Deal (1996) and Delirium (1997). In 1997 Sia left the band. She devoted herself to trip-hop and released her first solo album, OnlySee , on the now defunct independent label Flavored Records . Her former Crisp bandmate Jesse Flavell produced the album and wrote most of the tracks.

Sia emigrated to the UK to pursue her solo career. In 2000 she signed a contract with the Sony Music subordinate label DancePool and released her album Healing Is Difficult , musically a mixture of rhythm and blues and jazz . The album contains the tracks Drink to Get Drunk (Remixed by Different Gear) and Little Man , which gained fame in the underground , and the track Taken for Granted , which even made it into the top 10 of the UK charts . Despite positive reviews, the album was not a commercial success overall.

2003 to 2007: "Color the Small One" & Zero 7

In 2003 Sia released on the label “Go! Beat Records ”( UMG ) released the EP Don't Bring Me Down , whose song of the same name can also be heard in the French feature film 36 Deadly Rivals . The album Color the Small One followed in 2004 .
