action

The action begins with a flashback to Seattle a year ago. A young student, Riley Biers, is chased by a vampire in a dark, deserted alley, bitten and in the end collapses with excruciating screams.

There is a jump to the present, to Forks . Bella and her boyfriend Edward Cullen, a vampire , are about to graduate from Forks High School. Bella has mixed feelings about the upcoming event. On the one hand, as agreed, Carlisle is to turn her into a vampire; on the other hand, it is very difficult for her to say goodbye to her human family and friends, for whom there will be no more room in her new, dangerous life. Edward tries to persuade her to stay human, but Bella remains adamant. Another point of contention between the two is Jacob Black, a werewolf and mortal enemy of the vampires, who broke off contact with Bella after Edward returned from Italy. Bella, who is released by Charlie after long months of house arrest, on condition that she be reconciled with Jacob, seeks contact with her former best friend again. This in turn meets with rejection from Edward, who fears for Bella's safety, since the werewolves, as he fears, are out of control and could injure or even kill Bella if she were transformed.

Victoria returns to Forks and, without Bella's knowledge, is hunted by the Cullens and the werewolves in their respective territories. The overzealous Emmett crosses the line and clashes with the werewolf Paul. Victoria escapes in the turmoil. Then Jacob shows up at Bella's school to warn Edward not to cross the border again. Annoyed that Edward did not tell her about Victoria's return, Bella drives off with Jacob on Jacob's motorcycle. While she spends the rest of the day on Jacob's reservation, a strange vampire, Riley, sneaks around her house and room. The intruder disappears without harming the sleeping Charlie, but he still takes a blouse and a few other things that Bella's scent sticks to.

Meanwhile, a Seattle crime spree caught the Cullens' attention. Everything indicates that someone is assembling a newborn army with the help of which a vampire circle living in the vicinity, which is only the Cullens, is to be attacked. In fact, Riley has been hired by Victoria to assemble the army of vampires to kill Bella in revenge for James' death. The newborns are said to use the things Riley stole from Bella's house to track them down later. The Cullens decide to put an end to the hustle and bustle in Seattle themselves before the Volturi can consider stepping in, while visiting Forks to check if Bella is still human.

When Bella visits Jacob again, he confesses his love to her and then kisses her against her will, whereupon she hits him in the face with her fist, but only injures herself by bruising her hand. At the graduation party at the Cullen's, Bella forgives the unexpected Jacob who joins them, while Alice has a vision of the arrival of the newborn army in Forks. Much to Edward's displeasure, the werewolves form an alliance with the Cullens to protect the townspeople and Bella from the threat. Together they prepare for the upcoming fight.

Bella finally accepts Edward's marriage proposal, as he promises her to transform her afterwards on the one hand, and on the other hand to sleep with her before her transformation. The day before the fight, Edward, Bella and Jacob go to a secluded spot in the mountains where Bella is to be kept safe from the newborns. The following night, Jacob and Edward have an in-depth conversation that revolves around Edward and Jacob's feelings for Bella and her future. When Jacob learns of Bella's engagement to Edward on the morning of the fight, he provokes a long-awaited kiss from Bella by telling her that he will not take care of her own survival in the fight. Bella realizes that she has fallen in love with him. Jacob then goes into battle but promises to return. In the ensuing discussion with Edward, Bella explains to him that she loves him more than Jacob. Seth, the youngest in the pack, stays with Edward and Bella in Jacob's place. Shortly thereafter, the fight begins, in which almost all of the newborns are killed by the Cullens and the werewolves. Jacob is later seriously injured by a rash act by Leah and brought back to the reservation by the remaining werewolves.

Meanwhile, Riley and Victoria unexpectedly appear at Bella's hiding place, revealing that Victoria was the originator of the newborn army. Seth and Edward can destroy the two and thus save Bella's life. As Alice foresees the arrival of the Volturi, Edward and Bella rush to the clearing where the Cullens and Wolves fought the newborns. Jane, Alec, Felix and Demetri are impressed with the Cullens' performance and allegedly regret being late. In truth, they knew about Victoria's plans, but purposely did not intervene sooner. Jane reminds the Cullens to keep their promise to turn Bella into a vampire as soon as possible. She forbids them to let one of the newborns, Bree, who surrendered in battle, live. The girl is killed by Felix, a Volturi guard, on Jane's orders. Bella visits the injured Jacob one last time to say goodbye to him. She explains to him that, despite her feelings for him, she will stay with Edward. Jacob, however, does not want to give up the hope that she would eventually change her mind. To convince Edward that she made the right decision for herself, Bella explains to him that despite the suffering she has experienced in his world, she has never felt so strong and true before. Edward's world is now her world, where she also belongs in her opinion. Therefore, she decides to live as a vampire by his side, which she now wants to start living. Now both are faced with the task of telling Charlie about their wedding.

Reviews

“Vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) continue to grapple with Bella (Kristen Stewart), who becomes a pain in the ass in the third part. 'Why are all these creatures making so much ado about a dead-eyed boring woman who doesn't know what she wants?' Asked an exasperated US critic. Only the dime novel knows the answer. Director David Slade has the army of newborn vampires deployed, which increases the tension, but even if heads or arms are cut off, not a single splash of blood can be seen. This is forbidden in the aseptic world of romantic love monsters. Conclusion: Part 3 of the 'Twilight' saga offers a little more action, but the endless love chatter is often involuntarily comical.
