Bombay Bicycle Club are an indie rock band of four from London (Crouch End), England . The band was founded in 2005 and consists of Jack Steadman (vocals, guitar, xylophone), Jamie MacColl (guitar, vocals), Ed Nash (bass, keyboard, vocals) and Suren de Saram (drums, guitar, vocals) .
Band history
Steadman, MacColl and de Saram formed a band called The Canals when they were 15 years old. However, they changed their name to Bombay Bicycle Club , a well-known Indian chain of hospitality companies (in London). Nash joined them the following year and they started playing in small London clubs. The band opened the V Festival in 2006 after winning the Road to V competition that year. In May 2007, British rock magazine NME named Bombay Bicycle Club one of the best newcomers. Bombay Bicycle Club is "the best English newcomer band for many years", wrote Eric Pfeil in 2010 after a concert by the band in the Cologne workshop .
In January 2016, the band announced an indefinite break on Twitter so that the band members can focus on other projects. On January 14, 2019, the band announced the end of the break on Twitter, announced they were working on new material and announced a new tour. In August 2019, after several years of silence, the new single "Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)" came out, with which the band celebrated their comeback in the indie scene.
