Volume 1 was filmed in 2008 under the title Twilight - Bis (s) zum Morgengrauen , Volume 2 ( New Moon - Bis (s) zum Mittagshrunde ) came in November 2009, Volume 3 ( Eclipse - Bis (s) zum Abendrot ) in June 2010 in the cinemas. Volume 4 ( Until (s) the end of the night ) was released in two parts. Breaking Dawn - Until (s) the end of the night - Part 1 was released in November 2011 and Breaking Dawn - Until (s) the end of the night - Part 2 was released in November 2012.

Isabella "Bella" Marie Cullen, b. Swan
Isabella Marie Swan, called Bella, was born on September 13, 1987 in Forks , is the daughter of Charlie Swan and Renée Dwyer. Her parents separated soon after she was born, so she grew up with her mother in Phoenix and only visited her father in Forks during the school holidays.
At the age of 17 she moved from Phoenix to Forks, because her mother married professional baseball and later coach Phil Dwyer and wants to move with him. In Forks she attended Forks High School, where she soon met the vampire Edward Cullen and fell in love with him. The two married when Bella was 18 years old and fathered their child Renesmee Carlie (Cullen), a half-vampire with supernatural abilities, on their honeymoon. Bella nearly dies in childbirth and can only be saved by Edward "transforming" her; that is, turns into a vampire (September 11, 2006). After her transformation, she lives with her husband and child in the family group of the Cullen clan. It turns out that she not only has the superhuman abilities typical of vampires such as strength, endurance, agility and enormous perception, but can also create a kind of protective shield that can protect her and other people from the psychic powers of hostile vampires, and that she has supernatural self-control, and thus as a newborn she can withstand human blood.
Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
Edward Cullen was born Edward Anthony Masen Jr. on June 20, 1901 . born. His parents died during a Spanish flu epidemic in Chicago in 1918. His mother asked Carlisle Cullen to save her son. Carlisle was a doctor in the hospital she was in. Out of pity for Edward, he then turned him into a vampire. He has the gift of being able to read the minds of other living beings. The exception to this is Bella because her thoughts remain hidden from Edward.
Edward meets Bella and falls in love with her too. In a later part of the film series, they got married. After the birth of their daughter Renesmee, he turns Bella into a vampire to save her from death. Edward is musically gifted and very well read. He also likes sporty automobiles, like almost all members of the Cullen clan.
Jacob "Jake" Black
Jacob is a young Indian from the Quileute tribe and lives on the La Push Indian reservation . Since his father is friends with Charlie Swan, Jacob and Bella have known each other since childhood. It is he who points out to Bella for the first time that the Cullens are "cold beings" (the Quileute term for vampires). Since the Quileute are enemies of vampires, he does not approve of Bella's relationship with Edward, which is reinforced by the fact that he is in love with her himself. The rejection of the Cullens increases after he begins to get to know his true identity, because Jacob is a werewolf. He can turn into a wolf at will . According to an old Quileute legend, the process of transformation begins when the "cold beings" appear nearby and thus "threaten" the tribe. Although Bella also has strong feelings for Jacob, she chooses Edward. Even then, Jacob continues to try to be a good friend to Bella.
He leaves his wolf pack for them when they decide to kill Bella's unborn child Renesmee. He can't accept that, however, as the pack would have to kill Bella too. After the birth, he soon realizes that Renesmee is not dangerous, because Jacob "imprints himself on her". This means that he is drawn to her in a special way and knows that he can only spend his life with her. Jacob manages to forge a friendly alliance between the Cullens and the Quileute wolves, so that the wolves stand by the Cullens in the threatening battle against the Volturi. In the course of this dispute it turns out that the Quileute are shapeshifters who can take the form of wolves, but not werewolves in the narrower sense. In this way, despite the historically grown enmity between vampires and werewolves, a friendship between the Quileute and the Cullens can develop in the future.
Renesmee Carlie Cullen
Renesmee is the child of Bella and Edward. Since Bella was still human at the time of her conception, she is half human, half vampire. So she has a beating heart, which pumps blood through her veins, but also the special abilities of vampires . She grows much faster than normal people and can talk and walk after just a few weeks. Based on the experiences that another half-vampire has had, it is assumed that she will be fully grown by about seven years and can lead a significantly longer life than ordinary people without aging. Like vampires, it can feed on blood as well as food for humans. Renesmee has a gift similar to her father, which means that she can communicate her thoughts to other people by simply touching them. Your two first names are made up of the first names of the grandmothers (Renée and Esme) and the grandfathers (Carlisle and Charlie). Jacob Black gives her the nickname "Nessie".
Bella's family
Charlie Swan
Charlie Swan is Bella's father and Forks Police Chief. Since separating from his wife Renée, who left him when Bella was one year old, he has lived alone. For a long time Bella could only visit him during school holidays before she moved in with him at the age of 17. His big hobby is fishing, and he often goes fishing with Harry Clearwater, a Quileute friend. He also spends a lot of time with his wheelchair-bound friend Billy Black.
After Edward Cullen left Bella in Volume 2, he has a great dislike for him, which he does not completely abandon even after his return. Until after Bella's transformation, he considers the Cullens and the Quileute to be completely "normal" people. In order to be able to continue to participate in Bella's and Renesmee's life, he is initiated to a certain extent in the secrets of the Quileute and the vampires, although he himself wants to know as few details as possible. For example, he knows that Bella is no longer the "old woman", but not what she and the Cullens are exactly. At the end of Volume 4, a romance looms between Charlie and Sue Clearwater, Harry Clearwater's widow.
Renée Dwyer
She was married to Charlie Swan. Their daughter Bella comes from this relationship. When she was 1 year old, Renée left Forks with her and moved to Phoenix . Bella lived with her until she moved to Forks. Her second marriage is to Phil Dwyer, a former professional baseball player and now a baseball coach.
Phil Dwyer
He is the second husband of Bella's mother Renée. He used to be a professional baseball player, now he's a baseball coach with a job in Florida. The fact that his wife wanted to move there with him was the reason that Bella moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks at the age of 17 so as not to stand in the way of her mother's new happiness.
Vampires from the Cullen Circle
The Cullen clan is a specialty within the vampire community in that it completely dispenses with human blood and feeds exclusively on animal blood. The Cullens jokingly call themselves “vegetarians”. For vampires, renouncing human blood is only possible with great self-control and long practice, but it makes it easier to live with people. To quench their thirst for blood, the Cullens regularly hunt wild animals in the wild, such as bears, pumas and deer. Besides the Cullens, only one other group of vampires is known to have renounced human blood; this is the Denali clan. Outwardly, the Cullens pretend that Esme and Carlisle are the parents, while the children are allegedly all adopted. This is to explain the very small age difference between “parents” and “children”. The family's pale skin is based on the origin of the “adopted children” from Alaska.
Mary Alice Brandon Cullen
Alice Cullen, born Mary Alice Brandon in 1901 , has the gift of seeing into the future. In addition, she is exceptionally sensitive to non-human beings and always knows if other vampires are around and if they pose a threat to the Cullen family. Since she had already foreseen future events as a person, she was admitted to a psychiatric institution at a young age. There she is chased by a vampire (James). Before he can kill her, another vampire transforms her for her protection. However, since he is killed shortly afterwards, Alice is initially on her own. In one of her visions she sees Jasper and goes looking for him. The two find each other and become a couple. Together they later join the Cullens because they like their lifestyle. Alice accepts Bella from the start, and the two become best friends over time. At Bella's and Edward's wedding, she acts as the wedding planner and bridesmaid.
Carlisle Cullen
He is the founder of the Cullen clan. He was born in London around 1640. His father was a priest who used brutal means against alleged witches, vampires and other beings. When Carlisle hunted a real vampire at the age of 23, he was bitten by him and transformed. After realizing what had become of him, he tried to kill himself but failed. Having great compassion for those who suffer, he decided to come to terms with his fate and became a doctor to help people. Over the centuries he transformed several people who in his view needed his compassion, including Esme, Edward, Emmett and Rosalie. Carlisle is one of the first vampires to decide to give up human blood entirely. In Forks he works as a doctor in the city hospital. Outwardly, he and his wife Esme are the adoptive parents to Alice, Edward, Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie.
Emmett McCarty Cullen
Emmett was born Emmett McCarty in Tennessee in 1915 . When he was hunting in the Smokey Mountains in 1935, he was so badly injured by a bear that he was close to death. Rosalie was hunting in the area meanwhile and was attracted by the smell of blood from Emmett. She brought the badly injured Emmett to Carlisle, who transformed him. While Rosalie carried him to Carlisle and during his transformation into a vampire, he mistook Rosalie for an angel and Carlisle for God. He accepted life as a vampire without complaint due to the fact that Rosalie and Carlisle were also vampires. Emmett and Rosalie fell in love and got married, something they have repeated several times over the years. He has no special gifts like Alice or Edward, but is considered the physically strongest vampire of the Cullen clan.
Esme Anne Platt Evenson Cullen
Esme was born in 1892 as Esme Anne Platt , later married. Evenson was born in Columbus , Ohio . After her son died from her first marriage to an abusive husband, she was so badly injured when she deliberately fell from a high cliff that there was no chance of survival. Carlisle was called to her deathbed and recognized her as the girl whom he had treated for a broken leg 10 years earlier. The memories of the happy young girl from back then made him turn her into a vampire. They soon fell in love and got married. She and her husband take on the role of adoptive parents for the rest of the Cullens. She does not have psychic abilities, but her caring and passionate love for others is particularly emphasized.
Jasper Whitlock Hale
Jasper was born Jasper Whitlock in 1843 and was a major in the Southern Army in the Civil War . It was transformed in 1863. Due to his military experience, he fought in many battles between rival vampire clans.
At some point, however, he felt an aversion to the consumption of human blood and the killing involved. In his search for alternatives, Alice found him in 1948, who came to the Cullens with him. Having the most extensive combat experience in the Cullen clan, great emphasis is placed on his advice when battles arise. He also has the gift of influencing the mood of others. Although he almost killed Bella at her birthday party, he too accepts her as a member of the Cullen family when Bella puts her mortality to the vote. In general, it is difficult for him to do without human blood because he has been living on it for a relatively long time before he switched to the “vegetarian” way of life. From the outside, because of the resemblance to Rosalie, he pretends to be her twin brother, hence the surname Hale, but in reality the two are not biologically related.
Rosalie Lillian Hale Cullen
Rosalie was born in Rochester, New York in 1915 . Her family came from the middle class, her father had a job as a bank clerk, and her mother took care of her and her two little brothers. She had been very beautiful since she was twelve, so that at eighteen she was considered the most beautiful girl in town, possibly even the most beautiful girl in New York State. Her parents always wanted to rise into the higher ranks and saw Rosalie's beauty as the key. When her father forgot to take his food one day, her mother sent her to the bank to bring it to him. The son of the bank owner Royce King II noticed her and sent her roses every day from then on.
After two months they got engaged. When Rosalie got home from her friend late at night a week before the wedding, she ran into a group of drunk men, including her fiancé. She was brutally raped and seriously injured by him and his friends.
Carlisle, attracted by her smell of blood, found her closer to death than life on the street. With the ulterior motive that she could become Edward's partner, he turned her into a vampire. After her transformation, Rosalie took revenge on her tormentors, but never drank her blood as the thought disgusted her. Next to Carlisle (and later Bella) she is the only one who has never drank human blood.
Contrary to Carlisle's expectations, Rosalie and Edward showed no interest in each other. But Rosalie finds her partner in Emmett. Despite being lucky with Emmett, Rosalie can never make friends with her vampire existence and, according to her own statements, would have rather died than become a vampire. Inside, she would like to be still human, partly because she would have loved to have children. Therefore, she cannot understand why Bella really wants to become a vampire, so that there is a lot of tension between the two for a long time.
Rosalie later takes care of the pregnant Bella, as she can thus help her to realize a dream that is unthinkable for herself. Rosalie is married to Emmett. From the outside, she pretends to be Jasper's twin sister, hence the surname Hale.
Indians from the Quileute tribe (pronounced "Kwileïute")
Billy Black
Billy has been in a wheelchair for many years after a serious accident in which his wife died. He knows the legends of the Quileute very well and warns Bella early on about the "cold beings", i.e. the vampires. Both his father and grandfather were shapeshifters and the leaders of their respective wolf packs. This ability was skipped in his generation, but his son Jacob is also a shapeshifter. In addition to Jacob, he has two daughters, the twins Rachel and Rebecca.
Sam Uley
He is the lead wolf of the current quileute wolf pack and the first to transform. His leadership is later challenged by Jacob when Sam believes Bella's unborn child should be killed because it poses a threat to the Quileute. After a dispute with Jacob, the pack split up - Jacob, Leah and Seth (later also Quil and Embry) form their own pack under Jacob's leadership. Sam has a fiancée named Emily whom he imprinted himself on.
Harry, Sue, Leah and Seth Clearwater
The Clearwaters belong to the Quileute Indian tribe and live on the La Push Indian reservation. Harry and Sue Clearwater are the parents, Leah and Seth their children.
However, Harry, a good friend of Bella's father Charlie Swan, dies of a heart attack in Volume 2. Sue initially lives alone. The fourth volume implies that she and Charlie will become a couple.
Leah is the first of the two siblings to become a werewolf, after which Seth Sam's pack also joins at the age of 15. In volume 4, they leave the pack led by Sam Uley and join Jacob after the dispute over the question of whether Bella's and Edward's child should be killed, so that a new pack is created. Furthermore, Seth and Edward become good friends, while Leah does not like the Cullens.
Quil Ateara Junior and Embry Call
Quil and Embry are Jacob Black's best friends and shapeshifters too. In the fourth volume, they join the renegade pack of Jake.
Paul and Jared
Paul and Jared were the 2nd and 3rd wolf who joined the pack around Sam. Paul freaks out quickly and he's imprinted on Rachel Black, Jake's sister. Jake doesn't think much of Paul, but he doesn't have any problems with him. Jared is imprinted on Kim, a school friend who has long been in love with him.
Other vampires
Volturi
The Volturi are a three thousand year old vampire clan based in Volterra , Italy. The three leaders of the group, Aro, Caius and Marcus see themselves in a special role, as they, at least according to their external representation, watch over the world that the secret of the vampires is kept. This implies that they claim for themselves the right to have all those who threaten to unravel this secret eliminated. To do this, they use a troop of fighters, the so-called guards. However, some vampires take the view that the Volturi are interested in more than just keeping the secret, namely a kind of rule over all vampires.
Aro has the gift of being able to read all the thoughts the other person has ever thought when touched, but this does not work with Bella. Marcus can sense relationships, so he's surprised at how intimate the relationship is between Bella and Edward. Caius has no particular talent.
The Volturi guard includes various vampires with different gifts, which were recruited by the Volturi due to their high tactical value. Alec has the gift of being able to rob others of all perception, so that his counterparts can no longer see, hear, feel or smell anything. Chelsea is capable of influencing relationships between people. It can both strengthen existing bonds and loosen connections. Only the power of love can withstand this gift. Demetri is the Volturi's "sniffer dog", as he is the best "tracker" worldwide (trackers are vampires who can follow the tracks of other beings even over great distances and who only let go of the track when they have found their victim ). Jane, Alec's twin sister, in turn, can inflict massive mental pain on other vampires or humans without touching them. Eleazar used to be a member of the Volturi's guard, who joined the Denali clan after leaving and has been with Carmen ever since.
Denali clan
The Denali clan, who live near Denali in Alaska , originally consisted of their creator, Sasha, in addition to Irina, Kate and Tanya, who was killed by the Volturi many years ago because she created an immortal child named Vasilii, i.e. . that is, turned a toddler into a vampire. Since such immortal children are unable to keep the secret of the vampires, this is the death penalty. Later Eleazar and Carmen joined them. They all live in Alaska and are, like the Cullens, "vegetarians", i. i.e., they dispense with human blood. Irina enters into a relationship with Laurent, a vampire from the circle around James and Victoria. When the latter is killed by the Quileute werewolves while trying to kill Bella, she develops a strong antipathy for the Cullen clan and their friends. So it happens that she denounces Bella and Edward to the Volturi when she sees Renesmee and thinks she is also an immortal child. When it turns out that her accusation is false, she is punished and killed by Volturi Caius. The rest of the clan is ready to support the Cullens in the impending battle against the Volturi. Eleazar has the gift of recognizing the abilities of other vampires, which is why he used to be in the service of the Volturi. He also realizes Bella's abilities first. Garrett, Kate's new companion, also joins them.
Circle around James and Victoria
James, Victoria and Laurent lived as nomads in North America. One day they meet the Cullen clan near Forks, where James smells the sweet smell of Bellas and then wants to kill her. However, this is prevented by the Cullens by destroying James. Laurent briefly joins the “vegetarian” Denali clan and starts a relationship with Irina. Later he tries to avenge the death of James together with Victoria and leaves Denali again. Just before he can kill Bella, he is killed by the Quileute werewolves. Victoria continues to forge plans for revenge and creates an army of "newborns" in Seattle, which she marches against the Cullens. In a joint action by the Cullens and werewolves, however, they succeed in defeating them and destroying Victoria and her newborn army.
The Romanians
The Romanian circle consists of the vampires Stefan and Vladimir. Both are very old vampires, about the same age as the Volturi. In earlier years they were among the most powerful vampires in the world, but then they were ousted by the Volturi and have been out for revenge ever since. In the fourth volume they are ready to support the Cullen clan in the threatened fight against the Volturi.
The Egyptian Circle
The Egyptian Circle consists of the vampires Amun, Kebi, Benjamin and Tia. Amun created Benjamin, knowing that he would be something great and was right: Benjamin is able to control the four elements with the power of his thoughts.
Circle of the Amazons
The Amazon circle consists of Kachiri, Senna and Zafrina and lives in the rainforest. Zafrina has the gift of showing other people something specific.
The Irish Circle
The Irish circle consists of Maggie, Siobhan and Liam. The latter are a couple. Maggie has a knack for knowing if something is true or not. Carlisle believes that Siobhan has the gift of forcing something through wishes, but she doesn't believe in it herself.
Other people
J. Jenks aka Jason Scott
He runs a law firm in Seattle , but can also illegally procure forged papers of such high quality that they cannot be distinguished from the originals. Bella orders birth certificates and passports for Renesmee and Jake, and a driver's license for Jake. These papers are supposed to enable the two of them to escape if the battle of the Cullens and their allies against the Volturi should be lost. Jenks / Scott, he says, had previously been entrusted with creating forged papers for the Cullens on several occasions. In previous orders he was put under pressure by Jasper, as he is known to be able to manipulate feelings. Jenks / Scott occasionally mentions him as “Mr. Jasper ".
Mike Newton
Mike is a school friend of Bella's who is in love with her, but gets a rebuff when he asks her if she wants to go to the school ball with him. His parents own a large sports and outdoor store in Forks where both he and Bella work part-time. He is with Jessica Stanley at times.
Angela Weber
She is a good friend of Bella's, who suffers from the fact that Bella hardly has time for her due to her intense relationship with Edward. She is with Eric and later with Ben.
Jessica Stanley
Jessica Stanley is one of Bella's first school friends in Forks. Jessica turns out to be a gossip, but is still a good friend of Bella's. Jessica is jealous of Bella because she is dating Edward Cullen. She was secretly in love with him before Bella's move. Little by little, Jessica gets together with Mike Newton at the beginning of the fourth part.
