William Albert "Billy" Burke (born November 25, 1966 in Bellingham , Washington ) is an American actor .

Life

Billy Burke was a member of a musical group as a teenager. He studied acting at Western Washington University , followed by appearances at the Annex Theater , the New City Festival and the AHA Theater in Seattle .

Burke played his first film role in the independent fantasy comedy Daredreamer from 1990. In the independent comedy Sex with the Ex (1991) he played one of the larger roles. This was followed by other guest appearances in television series and supporting roles in television films such as in the action thriller Kalifornia Nightmare with Jimmy Smits , James LeGros and Kristy Swanson from 1996. In the television thriller Don't Look Down (1998) he played one of the bigger roles alongside Megan Ward .

In the comedy Dill Scallion (1999) Burke took the title role. In the thriller In the Spider's Web (2001) by Lee Tamahori, he worked on the side of Morgan Freeman and Monica Potter . In the real-time series 24 , Burke appeared in a total of seven episodes of the second season as Gary Matheson . He also played Lorelai's friend Alex on the Gilmore Girls series . He played one of the leading roles alongside Neve Campbell in the thriller Lost Junction (2003) . In the thriller The Perfect Crime (2007) with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling he was seen as a police investigator.

In the film adaptations of the Twilight book series, Burke plays Charlie Swan , the father of the main character Bella . Since 2010 he has appeared as FBI agent Gabriel Dean in the crime series Rizzoli & Isles . In March 2012, Burke was for the series Revolution radio station NBC cast. As of September 2012, the series aired two seasons. Since 2015 he has played Mitch Morgan, one of the leading roles in the CBS series Zoo .

Burke has been married to the English actress Pollyanna Rose since 2008 and they have one daughter.
