action

Missy Lofton kills her abusive husband. She travels across the United States with her husband's body in the trunk. On the way she meets Jimmy McGee, whose Ford Mustang breaks down. Shorty repairs the damaged car in the small town of Lost Junction, Mississippi , where Lofton lives. During this time, McGee is allowed to live with Lofton.

Lofton takes McGee to a bank where she plans to withdraw money from her bank account. The bank employee requires her husband's approval because of the amount. McGee helps the woman allay the bank clerk's concerns.

Lofton and McGee travel to New Orleans . McGee discovers the body in the trunk, but since he falls in love with Lofton, he does not reveal it. Instead, he returns to his homeland.

Matt, a friend of McGee, persuades him to go to New Orleans and look for the woman there. Meanwhile, Lofton's husband's death comes to light.

Reviews

David Nusair wrote on Reel Film Reviews that the film makes a mistake by letting the viewer believe it is a film noir when it is primarily a romance film. His "slow" pace endangers his success; there are too many pointless discussions between the main characters and there is no chemistry between them. The film only offers something exciting to the die-hard fans of the actors involved, but it is not bad compared to the other films published directly on video.

The TV Today editorial team wrote that if a car breaks down, "many films that take one fatal turn" begin. This offers "nice pictures, but too many southern clichés" .

backgrounds

The film was shot from May 2001 to June 2001 in Montreal and Ormstown ( Québec ). It was screened at the Santa Monica International Film Festival on February 14, 2003 . In Germany it was released directly on DVD in October 2004. In some countries such as Italy and Hungary , it was first released on television.
