Diva Destruction is an American gothic rock and death rock music group founded in 1998 by Debra Fogarty in Los Angeles . The name of the project, Diva Destruction , is ambiguous. On the one hand, it can denote a destroyed diva , or a destructive diva. Diva Destruction's lyrics mostly deal with intense emotional worlds, both positive and negative. The music is inspired by bands like The Sisters of Mercy , Siouxsie and the Banshees and London After Midnight .

history

Originally started as a solo project, over the years several musicians went through the band, always behind front woman Fogarty, who completed classical vocal training and training as a pianist. The first album, Passion's Price , which was produced in 1999 and released in 2000 , was written by Debra Fogarty, sung by her and Severina Del Sol and recorded by other guest musicians. The release of the debut album, under the German label Alice in ... , brought Diva Destruction benevolent criticism from the specialist press.

After Severina Del Sol left the project, a membership structure with the musicians Debra, Sharon, Jimmy Cleveland and Benn Ra was established. In the incident in Bochum, the band played their first European concert on July 21, 2001. Several festival appearances, such as at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen (2002, 2004 again) contributed to the increasing level of awareness.

The follow-up album Exposing the Sickness , released in 2003, continued the music style as usual, but sounds more aggressive and heavier than the debut. After the tour in 2003 there was a falling out between Fogarty and Sharon and Ra, which is why the latter left the band. The third album ( Run Cold , 2006) was therefore co-produced by guest musicians alongside Fogarty and Cleveland.
