The Western Washington University (WWU) is a university in Bellingham in the US state of Washington . Almost 15,000 students are currently enrolled. The university is particularly known for its research and teaching in the field of automotive design.

Sports
The sports teams at WWU are the Vikings . The college is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference . Until 2009, the university also had an American football team, which was most recently a member of the North Central Conference . However, in the course of budget cuts in 2009 this team was abolished.
