Monica Potter (* 30th June 1971 in Cleveland , Ohio , as Monica Gregg Brokaw ) is an American actress .

Career

She had her first role in the soap opera Shadow of Passion in 1994. She can be seen as a biker woman in the action comedy Bulletproof . She then impersonated the wife of Nicolas Cage's character in the action thriller Con Air , directed by Simon West . In 1998, she played the wife of Vince Vaughn in the drama No Father Yesterday . She became known to a larger audience through the role of Carin Fisher in the tragic comedy Patch Adams , opposite Robin Williams . In the same year Potter got the lead role Martha in the British comedy Martha meets Frank, Daniel & Laurence and stood in front of the camera together with Rufus Sewell , Tom Hollander and Joseph Fiennes .

In 2001, she received the lead role in Head Overhead . In the film, she plays the art restorer Armanda , who is betrayed by her husband and then moves into a model flat share and later meets the undercover FBI investigator (played by Freddie Prinze junior ). In the film adaptation of the novel Tomorrow's Children by James Patterson , In the Spider's Web , Potter played the Secret Service agent Jezzie Flannigan at the side of police officer Alex Cross , played by Morgan Freeman .

Life

Monica Potter is the daughter of Paul Brokaw, an inventor, and his wife, Nancy, a secretary. She grew up in a strict Catholic family with three other sisters in Cleveland, where she also attended the Catholic Villa Angela School. After high school, she began modeling at the age of 12 and appeared in commercials before settling into acting. She became pregnant when she was 19 and married Tom Potter, with whom she has two sons, and moved to Los Angeles in 1994 . She has been married to the orthopedic surgeon Daniel Christopher Allison since June 2005. They are parents of a daughter.
