Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence (Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence, The Very Thought of You) is a British film comedy from the year 1998 . Nick Hamm directed the film and the script was written by Peter Morgan .

action

The film begins with Laurence, who lives in London, visits his neighbor Pedersen, whom he believes is a psychoanalyst, and tells him how his friendship with Frank and Daniel, which has lasted since childhood, has shattered. Daniel, a successful musician, and Frank, an actor who has been unemployed for years, often argue while Laurence mediates between his two friends.

Shortly before returning from a trip to the USA, Daniel meets the American Martha, who wants to build a new life in London. She chose the city because the plane ticket there was particularly cheap. Daniel pays five thousand US dollars so that Martha can get a seat next to his in first class, and later he surprisingly sees another woman sit down next to him. Daniel finds Martha in the tourist class and learns from her that she sold her first class ticket to the woman for two thousand dollars - which was added to the $ 35 she already had for the new start. Daniel gets her a hotel room in London and wants to go out to eat with her.

Daniel falls in love with the woman and tells his friends about it. A little later, Frank meets Martha in a park, talks to her and also falls in love with her. Martha wants to return to the United States. Laurence gets to know and love the woman as soon as she arrives, which the viewer only learns after the scene in the park. However, he does not reveal his love to her out of loyalty to his friends. While Daniel and Frank fight over the woman, Laurence travels to another country where he wants to stay. On the plane he meets Martha, who is in love with him.
