action

The young Mari Collingwood is still not over the death of her brother Ben. In order to finally overcome this stroke of fate, her parents are planning a family vacation in the idyllic holiday home, which is on a remote lake. When Mari learns that her childhood friend Paige is there too, she immediately agrees.

When Mari visits Paige in the shop where she works, the two meet shy Justin who, among other things, wants to buy cigarettes. Since Paige asks for his ID, which he doesn't have, he offers the girls weed as a counter offer and invites them to his apartment.

When Justin's father Krug, who has escaped from captivity, suddenly shows up unexpectedly with his girlfriend Sadie and his brother Francis, the good mood suddenly changes. The criminals take the two girls hostage, fearing they might betray them.

During the subsequent drive, Mari guides the gangsters near their parents' holiday home before trying to escape with a ruse. During this attempt to escape, however, the car skidded and hit several trees. All six inmates survive.

After Paige tries to escape, the brothers kill Paige with several knife stabs in the stomach and back. Mari is raped by Krug. In the process, she loses her necklace with a pendant from her deceased brother. When she tries to escape again, she jumps into a lake. Krug shoots at her and a bullet hits her in the shoulder blade.

Assuming that they have killed the girl, the gang seeks refuge due to a strong storm in the nearest house, which is of all places the Collingwoods' holiday home. Mari's unsuspecting parents Emma and John take care of the four shady characters and let them sleep next door in the guest house.

When Emma and John are alone again, they hear a knock from the direction of the porch. The seriously injured Mari managed to drag herself from the bank of the nearby lake to the holiday home.

While John is trying to save his daughter's life as a doctor, Emma discovers her daughter's necklace next to a mug Justin used in the kitchen. Justin had discovered Maris' photo in the kitchen of the Collingwoods and left the chain that he had tucked in the woods as a clue to the fate of their daughter. This is made clear by the fact that they accommodate the tormentors of their beloved Mari. When Francis discovers the injured Mari in the house, he is knocked down by Emma and there is a duel between Emma and Francis, in the course of which Francis' hand is mutilated in the kitchen trash grinder in the kitchen sink. Finally, John kills him in the head with a powerful blow from the point of a pick hammer .

Then John and Emma go to the guest house to neutralize Krug and Sadie. The couple surprises Krug and Sadie in their sleep, Justin hands them Krug's revolver, with which John fires a shot at Sadie, which wakes both of them. A fight ensues in the course of which Sadie dies from being shot by Emma. After a tough duel between John and Krug, the Collingwoods and the injured Mari and Justin escape in a motorboat.

In a post-credit scene , John is back at the vacation home preparing for Krug's murder in the adjacent workshop. Since John severed his nerve tracts, he is lying paralyzed from the neck down on a table. John sticks the rapist and murderer's head in the microwave , switches it on and bursts the skull.

criticism

“A remake of an American splatter film classic staged for the mainstream, which makes the violence that has not been further explained creditable and enriches it with almost parodistically exaggerated individual points. Formally not unambitious, the horror film cannot hide its lack of ideas behind the Gore elements. "
