Ashley Michele Greene (born February 21, 1987 in Jacksonville , Florida ; nickname Asher ) is an American actress and model . She became internationally known for her role as Alice Cullen in the Twilight film series .

life and career

Ashley Greene was born in Jacksonville, Florida. Her mother Michele, nee Tatum, works for an insurance company , her father Joe was in the US Marines . She also has an older brother named Joe. She grew up in Middleburg and Jacksonville, where she first attended the University Christian School . From the tenth grade she attended Wolfson High School , also in Jacksonville.

Greene originally wanted to be a model , but was advised against due to her height of 1.68 m. She finished high school at the age of 17 and moved to Los Angeles to begin an acting career. She first starred in the music videos Kiss Me, Kill Me by Mest and Lyudi Invalidi by tATu and an episode of the MTV series Punk'd . In 2007 she made a brief appearance alongside Michael Douglas in King of California .

She celebrated her breakthrough in 2008 with the film Twilight - based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer , in which she plays the vampire Alice Cullen . Greene also took on this role in the four sequels. Films like The Apparition (with Tom Felton ), CBGB and Kristy - Run for Your Life followed . She also appeared in the video games Batman: Arkham Knight and Batgirl: A Matter of Family in 2015 as a spokesperson.

In the drama Shangri-La-Suite , Greene plays Priscilla Presley , the wife of Elvis Presley . In Jesse V. Johnson's film Accident Man , she played the role of Charlie Adams alongside Scott Adkins . In 2019, the role of journalist Abby Huntsman followed in the Oscar-nominated drama Bombshell , the film is based on incidents of sexual harassment by the former CEO of Fox News Roger Ailes .

Private

Since December 2016, Greene was engaged to the Australian actor Paul Khoury (* 1988). The couple got married in July 2018.
