Winnie Harlow (born July 27, 1994 in Etobicoke , Ontario ; real name Chantelle Brown-Young ) is a Canadian model . Due to the disease Vitiligo , her skin shows white pigment-free areas on her body and face , which have become her trademark.

Harlow is the daughter of Jamaican immigrants. At the age of four, she was diagnosed with vitiligo, a skin disease in which light spots appear due to the breakdown of pigment in the skin. During her childhood in Toronto, she was teased because of her illness. This led her to suicidal thoughts and depression.

Career

At the age of 19 she took part in the 21st season of America's Next Top Model , where she became known to a wide audience.

In September 2014 it ran for designer Ashish at London Fashion Week . In November 2014 Eminem released the music video " Guts Over Fear, " in which she starred.

In Canada, Harlow is the face of a campaign for the Spanish company Desigual and is involved in a Diesel campaign . In February 2015, she performed for Desigual at New York Fashion Week . In 2016 she worked on the Beyoncé album "Lemonade" .

At the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix , Harlow was supposed to give up the race. Due to a wrong instruction, however, she waved the checkered flag one lap too early.
