Beautiful Pain (English for. " Beautiful Pain ") is a song of the American rapper Eminem , in which the chorus and the bridge of the Australian singer Sia be sung. The song is included on the deluxe edition of Eminem's eighth studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 , which was released on November 5, 2013.

The song is about not letting setbacks get you down, learning from past mistakes and coming out stronger. Allusions to fire are used throughout the text as metaphors and Eminem raps in "you" form. In the intro he sings that he can feel the heat rising and setting fire to everything that triggers painful memories in him. The chorus kicks in and Sia sings that she is on fire and feels a beautiful pain while she burns the past and seeks new light in the future. In the first verse, Eminem raps metaphorically about waking up after a thunderstorm and being devastated inside. But today is a new day and you have to leave the past behind you as quickly as possible, not look back and look optimistically into the future. As long as you don't suffer permanent damage, the setbacks would make you stronger. The second stanza is about the fact that not everything can always work out and one has to be prepared to accept pain. Even if everything seems hopeless, one should not give up, but keep fighting until one sees the light at the end of the tunnel. Eminem also wants to help with his songs in such situations. At some point you are so hardened that nothing can shake you and no more flame blows. Many things would change over time, even if scars always reminded of the wounds. In the outro, Sia sings about the phoenix bird as a comparison, which repeatedly rises from the ashes after its death.

The beat of the song was produced by the American music producer Emile Haynie. Eminem himself acted as co-producer. No samples of songs by other artists have been used.

Although Beautiful Pain was never released as a single, it reached number 87 in the German, 67th in the UK and 99th in the US charts for one week each due to high download sales.
