Just Lose It (English for: " Flipp 'aus ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem . The song is the first single from his fifth studio album Encore and was released on September 25, 2004. The song is also featured on Eminem's best-of album Curtain Call: The Hits .

content

Like lead singles from previous Eminem albums, Just Lose It contains a lot of irony , exaggerations and swipes against various celebrities. The rapper announces he's back and asks what he can do to get the attention he needs again in the form of excitement over his lyrics. He says he has covered all controversial issues, with the exception of child abuse . He alludes to Michael Jackson , against whom a criminal investigation for child abuse was running at the time. In the chorus, Eminem asks the listener to dance, promising himself and saying boys instead of girls. He also alludes to the actor Paul Reubens , who was investigated for possession of child pornographic material. In the second verse, Eminem slips into the role of the lyrical self and raps about parties and alcohol and makes sexual and sadomasochistic allusions. At the beginning of the third verse, Eminem is arrested for causing public nuisance for running naked through the streets molesting an old woman. The rapper says he can't remember anything and is innocent. Now the plot changes and Eminem says the time has come when rap fails. He makes a reference to his movie 8 Mile and finally calls on all girls to come on the dance floor and dance.

Just Lose It contains text passages that are based on Eminem's songs Without Me , Lose Yourself and Superman (song) .

Production and sample

The beat of the song was created by Eminem's discoverer and producer Dr. Dre produced in collaboration with Mike Elizondo . They used elements of the song U Can't Touch This by MC Hammer .

Music video

The video for Just Lose It was filmed by Philip Atwell.

content

In the music video, various celebrities are parodied by Eminem in a one man show . These include Michael Jackson , Paul Reubens , MC Hammer and Madonna . A lot of the scenes refer to Michael Jackson, who among other things burns his hair, is puked by Eminem and loses his nose on the dance floor. At the end of the video, Michael Jackson is also sitting on a bed with children jumping around behind him. Other scenes show Eminem walking naked in the street molesting a grandma while Dr. Dre drives by angrily in the car. A rap battle from Eminem's film 8 Mile is also parodied. Various celebrities who also star in the video include Paris Hilton , Katie Cassidy , Monica Parales, Erik Estrada , Alyson Stoner , BooBoo Stewart and Mekhi Phifer .

controversy

In particular, the parodies about Michael Jackson in the video were heavily criticized by himself and other celebrities. In an interview, Jackson said he was very angry about his portrayal in the video and described it as outrageous, disrespectful and humiliating. He admired Eminem as an artist and was very shocked when he saw the video. Even Stevie Wonder said nothing and thought in terms of Jackson that Eminem kick a man who is already on the ground.
