3rd stanza Eminem

In the song, Eminem and Juice Wrld compare themselves to the fictional monster Godzilla because of their rap talent . Juice Wrld takes over the chorus while Eminem raps the three stanzas, using numerous puns , comparisons and metaphors . Eminem raps particularly quickly in the last verse, where he raps 10.65 syllables per second or 224 words in 30 seconds, surpassing his personal best of Majesty and Rap God .

“You get in my way, I'ma feed you to the monster (Yeah)
I'm normal during the day, but at night, turn to a monster (Yeah)
When the moon shines like Ice Road Truckers
I look like a villain outta those blockbusters
Godzilla, fire spitter, monster ”

- Excerpt from the chorus of Godzilla

production

Godzilla was produced by the American music producer DA Got That Dope, with Eminem taking over the additional production. The authors were Eminem, Luis Resto , DA Got That Dope, Juice Wrld and Alejandro Villasana.

Music video

The music video shot for Godzilla was directed by American director Cole Bennett (Lyrical Lemonade). It premiered on YouTube on March 9, 2020 and has over 150 million views (as of May 2020).

Eminem walks through an exhibition hall and drinks various types of alcohol, including whiskey and cognac , from the shelves , while two Godzilla figures walk behind him . Having other people have drunk up their drinks and getting drunk staggers through the corridors, he finally falls to the ground and vomits in the form of Lego bricks . A crowd gathers around Eminem and Eminem is now rapping on a hill that consists of the CDs of his studio albums. The scene changes and he can be seen as a butcher cutting up animal carcasses with a chainsaw. He then walks through a parking lot and is knocked down by former boxer Mike Tyson , who immediately apologizes when he sees that it is Eminem. The rapper is now in the hospital, where Dr. Dre and himself take care of themselves as doctors before the doctor (himself) stabs him with a knife. An obituary for Juice Wrld can be seen at the end of the video .

The video was nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards 2020 in the categories Video of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video , but was subject to Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and Savage by Megan Thee Stallion .
