Kings Never Die ( English for " Kings never die ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem , in which the chorus is sung by the singer Gwen Stefani . The song is the second single from the soundtrack album Southpaw for the film of the same name and was released on July 10, 2015.

content

Kings Never Die treats Eminem's status as king in hip-hop , with which he remains forever connected through his music, even after death. As so often before, it is aimed at his critics and all the people who urge him to withdraw from rap. Eminem contradicts this, saying that he does not stop, but continues until he is back at the top and remains king. Furthermore, parallels to the associated film Southpaw become clear, in which the protagonist Billy Hope, played by Jake Gyllenhaal , fights his way back into the boxing ring and wants to be remembered as a champion.

"Here to stay
Even when I'm gone
When I close my eyes
Through the passage of time
Kings never die"

- Lyrics of the chorus from Kings Never Die

The song was produced by the American music producer DJ Khalil , who also co-wrote with Eminem , Luis Resto , Liz Rodrigues, Erik Alcock and Chin Injeti.
