Framed ( English for " taken ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem , which was released on December 15, 2017 on his ninth studio album Revival .

content

In the song, Eminem partially slips into the role of his alter ego Slim Shady and tells of murders he is said to have committed. In the first murder, he hacked up a woman and laid her in front of Steven Avery's trailer . In the chorus , however, he denies any execution of a murder, since Eminem is rapping here again. Eminem mentions that drugs turned him into a monster. He wonders why Ivanka Trump is in his trunk and wants to get to the bottom of it. He allegedly has no memories of the second murder. He cut open the carotid artery of his defense attorney and then stuffed it into a blender. In the last verse, he raps how he was spotted in multiple locations where the deeds took place. He was imprisoned for raping eight men-hating women , from which he later fled. He never noticed that he could get a punishment for describing a murder in a song.

production

Framed was produced by music producer Fredwreck in collaboration with Eminem, who acted as co-producer. The song contains an interpolation of the song Pilgrim by C&K Vocal. In the text, the word " raping " ( English for " rape ") has been censored.

Music video

A music video for the song was released on April 3, 2018. It starts with a report by a reporter named Stan Dresden, in which he mentions that Eminem has escaped from an institution. The reporter's name is a reference to the Eminem song Stan and the street Eminem grew up on, Dresden Street. In another scene the reporter interviews the detective Shelter. He reports that he had spoken to Eminem on the phone and he would always say that he was "caught". After the short interview, the detective goes towards the house where Eminem is staying. The third verse begins with a black screen, which is supposed to be a reference to Eminem's song 3 am . When talking to Shelter, Eminem always sees different things, such as symbols or himself, and rejects everything the detective says. You see them again later, but this time in an asylum . While Eminem is sitting on a wheelchair in a coat, the detective shuttles a clock in front of him. A nurse brings Shelter a syringe which he uses to knock Eminem out. In the end, Eminem is taken away by the nurse.

reception

The magazine XXL rated Framed positively: The song was "scary and great". In contrast, there were also negative reviews on the part of the Consequence of Sound : The song is only "a slow motion scream of the title, which aims at an unholy hybrid of Adam Sandler , Will Ferrell and Pee-Wee Herman and still somehow falls short".
