album Recovery

No Love is a song by the American rapper Eminem that he recorded with rapper Lil Wayne . The song is the third single from his seventh studio album Recovery and was released on October 5, 2010.

content

Thematically, the song can be seen as the settlement of the two rappers with critics, traitors and people who have disappointed them. Lil Wayne raps at a relatively slow pace at the beginning of his verse. He compares himself to a flower on which a lot of dirt has been thrown and which has nevertheless grown. The rapper says he was in hell and now back again. In addition, Lil Wayne mentions to be "married" to the rap game, to feel betrayed by him and to fight back. Towards the end of his verse, he raps faster and describes how he fights as a bloodthirsty monster against the whole world. The subsequent refrain is performed by both artists. They feel it is too late to apologize for being abandoned in difficult times. But now the reviews from back then don't hurt anymore and neither of them want to have anything to do with these people anymore. Eminem raps the second verse in double time and thus much faster than Lil Wayne, whereby he continuously increases his speed. He speaks of being alive again and being freer than ever. He also alludes to other rappers with whom he clashed in his career, but does not mention them by name. The artist says he is rapping the best verse of all time and is about to tear the stage apart by getting all the attention. In the end, he says that he won't let anyone get him down and will keep rapping until he's pushed out of the top of the rap genre. Then the refrain starts again.

Production and sample

The American producer Just Blaze created the instrumental for the song. He used a sample from Haddaway's 1993 hit single What Is Love for the chorus . No Love was recorded at Effigy Studios in Ferndale, Michigan .

Music video

The American Chris Robinson directed the video for No Love . The premiere took place on September 30, 2010 on the MTV and Vevo channels .

The music video takes up the topic of bullying in schools . It begins with various scenes that a bullied student remembers while sitting in his room at home. Dodgeballs were thrown at him in physical education classes or he was physically attacked on the way to his locker . While the flashbacks are shown, Lil Wayne begins rapping in a dark, smoky room. Eminem goes into the studio with a sheet of text to prepare for a recording and appears behind Lil Wayne in the room. Meanwhile, the boy meets his tormentors again in the school corridor, but does not defend himself when they attack him, but instead listens to songs by the two artists with his headphones to distract himself. The walls of his room are also covered with posters of Eminem and Lil Wayne. Another scene during the chorus shows the boy being assaulted one more time in the school toilet. Now Eminem's verse begins, which is shown while recording on the studio microphone with a note in hand. Producers Just Blaze , The Alchemist and Denaun Porter also show up in the studio. Meanwhile, the boy comes home, his parents notice his injuries and begin to argue. The boy then drives away on his skateboard , listens to Eminem and Lil Wayne and begins to draw strength to defend himself against the oppression at school. The last scene shows the boy back at school, where he is attacked again, but this time he defends himself and fights with his opponents. This scene is shown in several variants, whereby the boy has the upper hand in the last one and then continues walking normally.
