Just Don't Give a Fuck (English for: " I just don't give a shit ", also known as Just Don't Give ) is a 1997 song by American rapper Eminem , written by Jeff Bass, Mark Bass and Eminem was written. Included is Just Do not Give a Fuck on Eminem's Slim Shady EP and on The Slim Shady LP , both versions have different beats. The version contained on The Slim Shady LP was released on August 7, 1998 as Eminem's first single. The track is also on the deluxe version of Eminem's best-of album Curtain Call: The Hits .

In the text, Eminem plays negatively on Everlast , Miilkbone and Vanilla Ice with the sentence “I'm Nicer than Pete, but I'm on a Serch to crush a Miilkbone, I'm Everlast-ing, I melt Vanilla Ice like silicone " on. The rappers concerned gave him answers in the form of their own songs, Vanilla Ice for example with Exhale and Miilkbone with Dear Slim . These tracks were all ignored by Eminem, but Vanilla Ice is mentioned in a few other Eminem songs such as Role Model .

Production and samples

The first version of the song, which is included on The Slim Shady EP , was produced by D12 member Denaun Porter . The second version, which appeared on The Slim Shady LP , was produced by the Bass Brothers in collaboration with Eminem. They used samples from Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony and 2Pacs I Don't Give a Fuck from 1991.

Music video

The music video, shot by Darren Lavett, is mostly black and white . Scenes are shown that are mostly independent of each other, including one in which Eminem tries to take food from a table as a child. An elderly lady stops him, whereupon he leaves the room. He reappears (now older), chokes and threatens her and then throws her on a bed. In another scene you see him at a meeting, he says the words "Hi, my name is Marshall, I'm an alcoholic" ( German: "Hello, my name is Marshall, I'm an alcoholic"), to which the group joins "Hi Marshall" replies. On YouTube, published there in 2009, the video had over eleven million views by April 2018.

Single cover

The single cover is kept in red tones and has similarities to that of The Slim Shady LP . It shows Eminem, dressed in black, standing on a pier and in the background a red car with an open trunk. In the sky there is the lettering Eminem in black and in the center of the picture the title Just Don't Give a F *** in red.

Charts

The song reached number 14 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles and number 62 on the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Songs , and stayed in these charts for a total of seven weeks.

criticism

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic selected Just Don't Give a Fuck as one of four “AllMusic Pick” s from Eminem's album The Slim Shady LP . A writer from RapGenius.com thought Just Don't Give a Fuck was the best song on the album and gave it ten out of ten points.
