Horrorcore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Horrorcore is a sub-genre of hip-hop . Rap artists who deal with morbid subjects in their texts are assigned to this style . Often the scenarios are borrowed from horror or splatter films and deal with murder , suicide , necrophilia , satanism and / or rape . Songs are often accompanied by music and noise samples typical of horror films. This results in similarities to horror punk . According to their macabre lyrics, horrorcore artists tend to work underground . While the groups used to come mainly from the USA, horrorcore is now also spreading in Europe. Based on the thematic proximity to Death Metal , horrorcore is also known as Death Rap .

The Geto Boys laid the foundation for the subgenre , with topics such as necrophilia and murder. As eponymous for the horrorcore in the early 1990s is the group The Flatlinerz . In addition to Insane Clown Posse and Esham , the early Gravediggaz with RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and Necro as well as Brotha Lynch Hung are among the most famous horrorcore artists. Some of Eminem's songs , especially on his albums Slim Shady EP , The Slim Shady LP , The Marshall Mathers LP , Relapse and Music to Be Murdered By , also fall into this genre. Horrorcore rappers known in Germany are MC Basstard from the Horrorkore Entertainment label, Kaisaschnitt , Hollywood Hank , as well as Blokkmonsta , Schwartz , Uzi from the Hirntot Records label, which is mainly known for psychokore, and Scheusal und Kunst Fehler from the Hässlich Rap label.
