Blokkmonsta (born August 2, 1983 in Berlin ; bourgeois Björn D. ) is a rapper , producer and owner of the Berlin independent label Hirntot Records . Beyond the hip-hop scene, Blokkmonsta and his music label became known primarily because of legal proceedings in the course of which he a. a. the first artist outside the right rock scene for sedition was convicted.

development

Blokkmonsta, who is of German and Russian descent, started producing music in 1998. In 2003 he was a member of the Berlin rap label TWB (TrueWestBlock), where he recorded an album under his old pseudonym Crack B, which was only officially released in 2018. However, its recordings or at least parts of them (under the title "Underground & Unpublished") were made public on the Internet as MP3 files. According to Blokkmonsta, the files were uploaded by TWB rapper and hip-hop producer Kism (et), which Blokkmonsta stopped a short time later. However, the whole of 2018 came out as a complete album by Crack B (aka. Blokkmonsta) under the name "Null". Due to personal differences, Blokkmonsta previously left the label. During this time he began recording tracks professionally with Godsilla . Godsilla also made contact with Kaisa . At the end of 2005 he founded the Hirntot Records label with rapper Uzi (Thomasz Michaelis). The two met through the Berlin rappers Frauenarzt and Manny Marc , with whom Blokkmonsta still works today. In the meantime over 100 CDs have been released via Hirntot Records. With his fifth solo album "Roboblokk" (which was only released in wholesale) Blokkmonsta was able to enter the media control charts at number 34. His album “Blokkhaus” (2014) landed at number 10 in the charts.

style

Blokkmonsta's trademarks are his rapping voice, which is strongly disguised and reminiscent of the growling in Death Metal , as well as his brutal lyrics , often inspired by splatter films . In his rap he often makes direct references to horror films like Saw , Hostel or the like. His music is characterized by a strong influence of American Down South rap .

Blokkmonsta gave his music the name Psychokore and classified it as a sub-category of horrorcore from the USA . While the latter mainly has mystical - occult content, Psychokore is said to refer to real violence that people do to one another, whereby Blokkmonsta always emphasizes that his texts are exclusively fictional.

Over the years, Blokkmonsta's style changed significantly, his textual content and music as well as his use of voices changed from the album Mit der Maske (2010) and rose from his typical Psychokore style. This change in style was carried over to all subsequent works and caused negative reactions from some of his old listeners.

Blokkmonsta's modern style is musically based largely on modern down-south and trap music, which are accompanied by lyrics that are more likely to be assigned to gangsta rap or street rap. His typical growling-like voice was replaced by a roaring voice insert, in some works a completely different voice insert was chosen, which is very different from his earlier growling and the later roaring voice insert. With an undisguised voice he has been rapping for years under the pseudonym Dr. Faustus .

Criminal proceedings

Because of his splatter texts, Blokkmonsta and his label came into the sights of the authorities. On July 5, 2007, the apartments of Blokkmonsta and those of his label colleagues Uzi in Berlin and Schwartz in Düsseldorf were searched , partly with the help of SEK teams . The reason for the raid was the title Fick die BPjM (which was published as a free MP3 file at the end of 2005, initially on Blokkmonsta's website and in early 2006 on the Hirntot Records website), in which the member of the Bundestag Monika Griefahn was insulted and threatened, the EP May 1st Rockfall , on which the killing of police officers is described in detail, as well as the song Meine AK . In addition to sound and data carriers, the police also seized several demilitarized weapons, including a MAC-11 , an AK-47 and 200 rifle cartridges.

The case received great public interest. The responsible public prosecutor described the label as dangerous in the program Kulturzeit and spoke of a new quality in terms of the tastelessness and violence of the texts. Because of the reporting in various media, Hirntot Records published a statement in which they rejected the charge of being "interesting for the right-wing scene" because of their texts, and called for "no benevolent" but fair reporting.

In the meantime, a confiscation order was issued for the title Fick die BPjM , the EP 1. Mai Steinschlag , the song Meine AK and the promotional video for Schlachthof , which the media referred to as the “Meine AK-47 video”.

In the indictment, the public prosecutor accuses the accused Schwartz, Blokkmonsta and Uzi of violating §111 (public invitation to criminal offenses), §126 (disturbing the public peace by threatening criminal offenses), §131 (representation of violence), §185 (insult), § 241 (threat) and Section 130 of the Criminal Code (sedition). The charges of violating the War Weapons Control Act were dropped. On April 18, 2008, the two albums In Three Devil's Names and In Three Devil's Names 2 were confiscated by the Tiergarten District Court .

When the house was searched again on June 9, 2008 at 6:00 a.m. at Blokkmonsta and Uzi by the SEK, the albums In 3 Teufels Namen , In 3 Teufels Namen 2 (CD1 and 2) and Hirntot Records - Greatest Hits were confiscated.

One day after the second raid, Blokkmonsta, Uzi and Schwartz had to answer in court. The accused confessed and regretted their actions, especially the insults and threats from Monika Griefahn. The court found her guilty of violence, sedition, insult and public incitement to criminal offenses. The 24-year-old Tomasz Michaelis alias Uzi received a six-month suspended sentence according to juvenile criminal law and has to attend an anti-violence seminar and work 40 hours of charitable work. Blokkmonsta was sentenced to ten months imprisonment with a probation period of two years, and as a producer of the label he has to pay a fine of 2,000 euros. Because of the CDs that were confiscated on June 9th, he has to face another investigation. The 26-year-old Raphael B. alias Schwartz was fined 1350 euros. He was only involved in one of three of the incriminated songs. The verdict stated that this type of music was "food for gunmen who are incited in their violent fantasies".

In 2011 Blokkmonsta, Schwartz and the rapper Dr. Jekyll answer again in court, but were acquitted. The reason for this was the confiscation of the CD Eat or Die , which resulted in a complaint. Brain dead and especially Blokkmonsta were accused of equating “homeless” with “shit” in the track Kloake . In April 2011 Blokkmonsta was in custody taken. Blokkmonsta is said to have lured the rapper Sebar into a cellar together with the rappers Brute and Malpractice, where he beat and robbed him. The trial began on September 13, 2011, and on November 23, Blokkmonsta and Fiend and Malpractice were released from custody.
