Brain Dead Records
Hirntot Records is a German hip-hop - independent label from Berlin . It became known, among other things, through house searches by the State Criminal Police Office in Berlin on three rappers of the label.
History of origin
Hirntot Records was founded by rappers Blokkmonsta (Björn D.) and Uzi (Thomasz Michaelis). They met through a gynecologist and DJ Manny Marc . At the first meeting, the idea of founding a joint label arose. The song "Senseless Violence" was recorded on the same day and within a short period of time the first publication, Hirntot, was made . Still quite amateurish in terms of recording and quality, the album was released in October 2005. The musical direction of this and other releases of the label is horrorcore , a dark variant of hip-hop that often relies on dark and violent themes. The two main actors of the label describe the music itself as "psycho-core".
The next release was the EP Sweet, Otherwise Stich , which also featured the newly signed rapper Perverz . A double album with old EPs by Perverz was released a short time later. In the further course one concentrated on the further publications of Perverz, Blokkmonsta and Uzi. With the sixth CD that was released, “exe | workZ”, a graphic artist, came to Hirntot Records .
With Dr. Jekyll and Uncle Size were followed a short time later by two more rappers. In autumn 2006 a best-of album was released , which gave an overview of the label's work so far. In addition, a new artist was signed with the rapper and hip-hop producer Schwartz (Raphael Brinkmann). Due to personal differences, Onkel Size left the label in 2007 without a release of his own. In the same year, the hip-hop producer SDBY was signed up as a new addition .
In 2007, Abusex ( King Zaza ) released Cocain Business: Reloaded and a joint album by Blokkmonsta and Manny Marc under the name Blutsport . The latter mainly relates to B-movies from the martial arts sector.
After Uncle Size, Dr. Jekyll released the label in 2011 without its own release. After a few solo as well as collab albums, Hirntot Records released "Free Blokk and Ugly Rap - Der Sampler" in the same year. The background for this sampler was the arrest of Blokkmonstas and the rapper duo "Hässlichrap", consisting of monsters and malpractice, who were taken into custody. On October 31, 2011 there was a concert in Berlin for the occasion.
With the album “Roboblokk” by Blokkmonsta (which was only released in wholesale) the label entered the media control charts for the first time.
The label works with various underground hip-hop artists . So are z. B. Frauenarzt, Manny Marc, B-Tight , Kaisa , Smoky , Automatikk and MC Basstard represented as guests on various releases of the label. In return, the two owners of the label also have musical guest contributions on various sound carriers.
controversy
All of the label's performers use violent texts that have been influenced by splatter films . The albums usually refer to horror films . The use of firearms is also often glorified.
On Thursday, July 5, 2007, three apartments in Düsseldorf, Cologne and Berlin were searched. The apartments should belong to the operators of the label. The background was a death threat to the politician Monika Griefahn , who had repeatedly criticized texts by German rappers, and the publication of the CD 1. Mai EP: Steinschlag , on which violence against police officers was called for. On one song, the rappers had insulted Griefahn and threatened with death.
The police confiscated several weapons and various recordings from the label. The weapons included a Luger M-11 and an AK-47 with a locked barrel. The officers also seized around 200 rifle cartridges. Uzi and Blokkmonsta dedicated the song "Meine AK" to the AK-47. 3sat reported on Hirntot Records in the Kulturzeit . The responsible public prosecutor described the label as dangerous and spoke of a new quality in terms of the tastelessness and violence of the texts. Television programs, including Focus TV , reported on the label in advance .
Hirntot Records released a statement in which it announced that it was the private homes of Blokkmonsta, Uzi and Schwartz. In order not to jeopardize the ongoing legal proceedings, they do not provide any further information on the matter. In the further statement on reporting in the press, they reject the accusation that the band is interesting "for the right-wing scene " due to the potential for violence in their music . They also expect “no benevolent” but fair reporting from the press.
In the meantime, the CD 1 May EP: Rockfall has been indexed by the Federal Testing Office for media harmful to minors (List B) and confiscated nationwide by the Tiergarten District Court in accordance with Section 131 of the Criminal Code . The track “Meine AK” and the promo video for Schlachthof , which the media referred to as the “Meine AK-47 video”, were also confiscated . The head of the BPjM filed a criminal complaint against Uzi for calling for acts of violence against her and the authorities on the freetrack "Fick the BPJM".
In the indictment, the public prosecutor accused the accused Schwartz, Blokkmonsta and Uzi of violating § 111 ( public invitation to criminal offenses ), § 126 ( disturbing the public peace by threatening criminal offenses ), § 131 ( representation of violence ), § 185 ( insults ), § 241 ( threat ) and Section 130 of the Criminal Code ( sedition ). The defendants are the first musicians from a subculture outside of right-wing rock to face an indictment of sedition.
During a renewed search of the house on June 9, 2008, around 6:00 a.m., the following CDs were confiscated by, among others, the SEK forces based on a decision by the Tiergarten District Court: Uzi, Blokkmonsta & SDBY - In Drei Teufelsnames 1 and 2 (CD 1 and 2) , as well as Hirntot Records - Greatest Hits .
On June 10, 2008, 3 members of the label were convicted by the Tiergarten district court. The court found the accused guilty of violence, sedition, insult and public incitement to criminal offenses. The 24-year-old Tomasz Michaelis alias Uzi received a six-month suspended sentence according to juvenile criminal law and must also attend an anti-violence seminar and work 40 hours of charitable work .
The 24-year-old Blokkmonsta was sentenced to ten months in prison, and as a producer of the label he has to pay a fine of 2,000 euros. The process revealed that the 24-year-old producer has to reckon with a further investigation. His home was ransacked the day before the trial. Relevant CDs were confiscated. The 26-year-old Raphael B. alias Schwartz got away with a fine of 1,350 euros. He was only involved in one of three of the incriminated songs. The verdict said: "This type of music is fodder for gunmen who are incited in their fantasies of violence."
In December 2009 the label was searched again. The mail order company Distributionz , which had the label's recordings on offer, was also affected . The cause of the house search was a confiscation of the album Friss oder dies von Blokkmonsta and Schwartz. The album was confiscated for "glorifying violence and sedition". In a subsequent lawsuit, Hirntot Records and the distribution company Distributionz were acquitted.
In April 2011 Blokkmonsta was in custody taken. Blokkmonsta is said to have lured the rapper Sebar into a cellar together with the rappers Brute and Malpractice, where he beat and robbed him. The trial began on September 13, 2011, and on November 23, Blokkmonsta and Fiend and Malpractice were released from custody.
