Bassboxxx
Bassboxxx was founded in 1998 by German hip-hop - Label , located in the Berlin underground predominantly through hard texts and its status as independent label made its name. In 2003 the label was dissolved due to internal differences.
Emergence
In 1994 the gynecologist and Manny Marc met. At that time both were very active in the Berlin graffiti scene. Gynecologist was already rapping together with Mr. Long, Manny Marc was just starting out with DJing.
They joined CNF in 1995, a crew made up of sprayers, breakdancers, rappers and DJs. During this time they came into contact with the Kreuzberg crew VPs and also DJ Korx, as well as Boss Aro and Frost 187 from Wedding.
This later resulted in Berlin Crime. MC Bogy (one of the label founders alongside Frauenarzt and Manny Marc) and other artists who later worked on the label were represented at Berlin Crime.
Frauenarzt and Manny Marc had a mixtape label (Wet Pussy Digital) back then . BC also partially took over the management of the Royal Bunker. A BC tape should then be created. Jope pointed out to the gynecologist that he knew a producer in Kreuzberg. This was Mach One who, together with The One Files, formed the hip-hop duo last. After a short period of getting to know each other, they got along very well.
In the 4m² studio, also called the “last hole”, the album BC was then produced by Frauenarzt and recorded on an 8-track recorder. Many of the later label colleagues were already represented on the album.
A search was then made for a new label name. In 1998, shortly after the recordings for the album were finished, Frauenarzt came up with the name Basssonic as the name for the label. After talking to Manny Marc, the name Bassboxxx was agreed as it would reflect the style of the group and the music well.
The first edition of the album BC by Frauenarzt was produced in a Berlin cassette copier in 1999 (in the first edition with a 3-page porno booklet ). Manny Marc and the gynecologist initially sold it themselves until it could be sold across Germany with the help of Downstairs.
In 1999, Frauenarzt and King Orgasmus One (he called himself Orgasmus 69 then) spent time producing beats, lyrics and skits for Orgasmus' album Sex König . These were recorded in the second half of the year in Mach Ones Studio ("the last hole") with an 8-track recorder. Artists like Bass Sultan Hengzt , Smoky , Bushido , PR Cantata , Unterleib Dynamo and others. v. a. took over guest parts on the 100 minute long solo debut.
Further recordings were made, most of which were produced in the gynecological studio in Berlin (BBX 003-006). The income from the sale of these recordings made it possible to expand the new Bassboxxx-Studio das Lätzte Loch . In this, the recordings underground solo by Frauenarzt (BBX 007) and (R) evolution (BBX 008) by Die Lätzten (Files One and Mach One) were recorded.
In 2003 Bassboxxx was unofficially closed due to personal differences, although afterwards there were still albums under the name or logo.
Certain disputes were never resolved. Two days of shooting had to be scheduled for the video Bassboxxx Clique 8 , as some members of the old crew did not want to be in the same room with others.
On May 10, 2019, there was a petition to rename Mariannenstrasse in Kreuzberg, Berlin to “Bassboxxx Allee”, as this was the street where the label's first studio was located. The petition received 500 signatures. (As of May 13, 2019)
