Obscuritas Eterna ( Latin : Eternal Darkness ) is the second solo album by the German rapper MC Basstard . It was published in May 2002 under the catalog number BBX011 on the Berlin label Bassboxxx . The distribution took place via Distributionz .

Video

The piece Purgatory was implemented as a video as the first song by MC Basstards. This was produced by Kaisaschnitt for Paranoia Pictures . Kaisaschnitt was also responsible for directing the music video. He appears in the position of video director under his real name Jacques Linon.

Obscuritas Eterna was the first album distributed by Distributionz , which was also sold through EMP. The founder of Distributionz Jayo stated in an interview in 2005 that Obscuritas Eterna is " still the most successful product " of the sales organization founded four years earlier.

criticism

In a review by Bumbanet.de, the further development of MC Basstards is praised. The album already looks “ quite appealing ” through its design . Thematically, however, Obscuritas Eterna does not appeal to every listener. The content of the songs should not be taken completely seriously, but for entertainment purposes. Furthermore, the manner of presentation is praised by both MC Basstard and the guest rapper Mach One. The track Untergrunddämonen 3 is highlighted in the review because of the “ unbelievable part [s] ” by Taktloss. MC Basstard also shows its " ingenious flow " in it. In summary, the album shows “ what all of Berlin can do ”.

The German hip-hop magazine Juice described Obscuritas Eterna in 2007 in a review of the album Verdammt by Basstard and DJ Korx as a " classic of the genre " horrorcore.

indexing

On September 30, 2005, Obscuritas Eterna was indexed as the first MC Basstard album by the Federal Testing Agency for Media Harmful to Young People. The album was entered on List A, which means that it cannot be advertised or sold to minors. According to Jayo, only two of the total of 25 tracks on the album should be responsible for the indexing. In 2009 Basstard stated in an interview with regard to the indexing that with Obscuritas Eterna the " artistically most valuable " of his albums had been indexed. However, due to his young age, he did not lodge a complaint against the indexing.
