MOK (born September 21, 1976 in Berlin-Neukölln ; real name Tarkan Karaalioğlu ) is a German rapper of Turkish descent from Berlin . His stage name MOK (an acronym for "Muzik or Knast" or "My Own Kingdom") was given to him by the Berlin rapper Maxim . He was a member of the rap crew Die Sekt , but is not under contract with their label Sektenmuzik . He runs his own label called Yo! Musix . Sony BMG is responsible for the distribution of his label's publications .

biography

Born in Berlin-Neukölln , MOK joined the NHS crew, where he spent his time with train bombing . In 1994 he made the acquaintance of Berlin Crime, and after the first few attempts, MOK became a permanent member. In 1995, however, he separated from the group and started again with graffiti. At the same time the crew CMD ("Criminal Minded") was formed, a Germany-wide branch that deals with train bombing. MOK used the next five years to expand his existing talents.

MOK made his first attempts at rap with ASEK von der Kaosloge. At about the same time he met Mach One of Bassboxxx know. MOK, Mach One and Tony D decided to record tracks together, which later resulted in the Die Echten crew .

In 2002 MOK recorded his first album Fick MOR . The title is an attack on the group Masters of Rap , which is abbreviated to MOR. Several features were included, including a gynecologist .

When there were problems at Bassboxxx , MOK agreed to the proposal to have Sido produce them. Together with Tony D he joined the rap crew Die Sekt .

In 2006 MOK founded his own label ersboeserjunge for the Sony BMG distributor. In May 2007, MOK had the label first renamed Ghetto Kingz and later Yo! Musix . The reason for this change was that Bushido's lawyers threatened to sue MOK and MOK didn't see a chance to win a costly lawsuit.

On March 5th, 2007 MOK made it into the TOP 10 of the MTV TRL Charts with his new video Big Boss . It was the first time a video of him was played on TV. In the first edition of the weekly show Urban TRL he was able to reach number 5 of the Most Wanted . On May 25, 2007 MOK's first solo album Hustler was released.

The planned single release "Strassenmukke" was canceled and instead an album of the same name with 17 tracks and exclusive video material was released at the end of 2007.

In 2004 the EP Neukölln Hustlers was released. Muzik or prison followed in 2005 . After that, work began on the mixtape Badboys , which was published in 2006. In the same year the sequel was released as a double CD. At the end of the year MOK also released the CD Das Beste . It contains ten exclusive pieces and four bonus songs. There is also video material on the album.

MOK has been in custody since November 2013. A two-year prison sentence awaits him for damage to property in connection with his work as a graffiti artist . He had previously fled the police and commuted between Berlin and Paris for about three years.
