The Masters of Rap ( MOR for short ) are a loose association founded in 1996 by various Berlin hip-hop activists from the Royal Bunker music label . Founding members were the MCs Kool Savas , Fumanschu and Justus Jonas .

history

The hip-hop crew was founded in 1996 by Kool Savas, Fumanschu and Justus Jonas, who met on a trip to Los Angeles . Shortly after their trip they write their first joint track Masters of Rap , which provides the basis for the crew name "MOR". In the next few months, more rappers from the circle of friends and acquaintances will join them.

The Royal Bunker label is later founded by the crew environment from the proceeds from tape sales . That suddenly gives MOR the opportunity to release its own album. In 2001 they bring out the album NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), on which Taktloss is not represented. The music video for the single release With me will be played despite the rather scene bound notoriety at times on MTV and VIVA. In autumn 2001, Kool Savas left the group with his then partner Melbeatz to start his own label Optik Records .

Contrary to all rumors, the crew was never really dissolved, but only added the word "Ex" to their original name after the "Kotzen & Abhaben Tour 2002", so that in certain cases they are now talking about the "Ex-MOR".

In 2005 the crew released the mixtape Hip Hop Is Still OK with a slightly different line-up , which was originally planned as a teaser of the actual album Simply the Best . However, this album wasn't released until 2007 as there was some discrepancy over the release platform as Royal Bunker restructured and focused on KIZ's up and coming artists .

Together with West Berlin Masculin (Taktloss and King Kool Savas), MOR is considered a pioneer of German-speaking battle rap .
