Justus (rapper)

Justus (* 2. March 1977 in Berlin as Eric Wedge ; and Double J ) is a German rapper . His stage name is based on the character Justus Jonas from the radio play series The Three Question Marks .

Career

In 1994 Justus and his friends Fumanschu (Johannes Schroth), Martin B. (Martin Bütow) and Illo (Oliver Holschke) founded the rap crew Funkfüxe, based on the youth book and radio play series Die Funkfüchse . In the years from 1994 to 1998, three demo tapes followed and also a contribution to the Berlin No.1 Vol.1 sampler from the former Royal Bunker environment.

Justus was a co-founder of the Masters of Rap (MOR) launched in 1996 and thus a pioneer of German-language battle rap . In 1999 he released his first solo cassette Neue Truth on the record label Royalbunker , on which he was supported by his colleagues Kool Savas , Fumanschu , Martin B. , Illo and Taktloss .

Shortly thereafter, in 2000, the Splidttercrist tape was released . Splidttercrist is a character invented by Eric Keil (comparable to Slim Shady , Eminem's second "I" ), who unites assumptions according to both the madness and the problems of today's, but also earlier societies. It is noticeable that Splidtterchrist always speaks of himself in the third person and never even has a say. It is therefore not clear whether the person to be heard should represent Splidttercrist or someone else.

2001 was Justus as a member of MOR with strong participation on their first publication NLP , even as on the subsequent EP NEP heard. In 2002, the year MOR split up and one year after Kool Savas left MOR, Justus released his solo album Zeichen & Muster , again via Royalbunker. The features included Funkfüxe, Marcus Staiger , Taktloss as well as Meyah Don and Ba-di.

At the end of 2005 the MOR mixtape HipHop is still OK was released again with Justus. Shortly afterwards, in May 2006, he released the collaboration album Aus Liebe with Taktloss . On this sound carrier there is a mixture of lyrical madness, always paired with statements critical of society.

Justus is known in the German rap scene for his extremely socially critical, often absurd-looking battle rap and the resulting punchlines and is still primarily associated with MOR by many listeners. He gave himself his stage name Justus Jonas (now Justus ) because on the first track of Funkfüxe every MC played a role from Die Drei ??? slipped.

Not much is known about Eric Keil's personal life. A Napalm Death T-shirt that he often wears and his own statements in interviews suggest that he listens to metal as well as jazz and blues .

Eric Keil lives in Berlin-Zehlendorf and today works for a lobby association as "Head of Human Resources, Organization, Finance and Accounting". In July 2016 he published the novella Raum in ein Raum at Korbinian Verlag , to which he also spoke an audio book.
