Meyah Don

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Meyah Don (* 1976 ; real name Tim Hirschfeld ; also known as Pflanzenmensch , Major Dorn or Ranger Storm ) is a German rapper . He has been active in the Berlin underground since 1992/1993 .

Career

During years of freestyle sessions, Meyah got to know his future crew partners Gris and Estess. In addition, an old friendship resulted in musical collaborations with Kool Savas ' DJ Nikon, Royal Bunker house producer Big Bennay and today's permanent Hornflex DJ DJ Fiks.

In 2000, Meyah Don was the first of the Schöneberg clique to release his debut album, Pflanzenmensch , which was recorded and mastered entirely in the living room, first through self-distribution and then via Royal Bunker . There are no features on this album, also due to a dispute with Hornflex at the said time.

Regardless of his studies in agricultural sciences , Meyah was featured on various Royal Bunker and independent publications, released the album Two Ugly in a Beautiful World in 2001 with Gris as “Hirnpflox” and in 2002 followed up with his second solo album Über alles Grün , which he also below the pseudonym "Ranger Storm" appeared.

In 2006, after a long break, a new solo album called Auf Neuen Wegen was released on the Edit label , which was founded by Meyah and some artist friends in the same year .

style

Meyah Don's beats , mostly created on the Akai MPC2000, contain soulful or soft samples (especially for plant man ) or relatively archaic synthesizer sounds. Due to his choice of topics, which in addition to the damaged environment and nature (also under metaphysical aspects) often also deals with social criticism, he can be assigned to Conscious Rap .
