Hugo Gorge
Hugo Gorge (born January 31, 1883 in Botenwald , Moravia , † December 25, 1934 in Vienna) was an Austrian architect .
Life
George attended the Unterrealschule in Opava from 1893 to 1897 and then the State Trade School in Brno until 1901. From 1906 to 1908 he was an extraordinary student at the Technical University of Vienna and from 1907 to 1910 he studied with Friedrich Ohmann at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. From 1909 he worked in the Friedrich Ohmann studio and from 1911 to 1912 assistant to Oskar Strnad at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. In 1933 he received the license to civil architect.
He designed interior furnishings and built some residential and commercial buildings in Vienna. In 1932 he took part in the Werkbundsiedlung in Vienna with a double house . His designs are characterized by an unadorned simplicity. Along with Adolf Loos and Josef Frank, he was an early representative of modernism in Vienna.
