Alexander Engelen from laut.de rated Live from New York City with two out of a possible five points. He describes the video album as a “professionally recorded, definitely entertaining concert.” Eminem's performance offers a “decent live show” that includes a “three-story set, oversized screens, pyrotechnics [and] man-high, inflatable fuck fingers”. On the negative side, however, the fact that the rapper usually performs “only one verse and the hook” and “no other extras” is included in the 27 songs.
