Not Alike ( English for " not equal ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem , which was released on August 31, 2018 on his tenth studio album Kamikaze . The song is a collaboration with the rapper Royce da 5'9 ″ .

The song begins with the chorus in which Eminem utters seemingly incoherent words. He imitates the flow of the Migos song Bad and Boujee . With this he wants to show how easy it is to use the same flow on every trap song. In the first verse, Royce says in 5'9 "that he is not interested in luxury. Most mainstream rappers are only into drugs and only make one big, which they aren't. The rapper G-Eazy is addressed here personally, in the sense that he is cool. New rappers who try to freestyle like him are not spared either . While you used to have to work hard for every nickel , the new rappers would have it easy and would get rich from cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin . Royce compares the mainstream rhyme scheme to that of Dr Seuss , who wrote children's books .

The second verse raps Eminem. He speaks to all the "Lil" rappers who claim to be connected to gangs and murders. The next few lines are for Machine Gun Kelly . Next time Kelly shouldn't use Tech N9ne to diss him. Here he speaks to him by name because, unlike Kelly, he would not do a hidden diss. He also mentions Kelly's comment to his daughter Hailie Jade Scott. Kelly described her as "hot as fuck" with the greatest respect, as Eminem would be the king. Eminem also mentions rapper Remy Ma and says she should just let it out. She was found guilty of attempted murder in 2008. The rapper Fetty Wap also finds his way into the text. Eminem plays with the words "I lost" ( English for "I lost"), which sounds similar to "Eye lost" ( English for "eye lost"). He's making fun of Fetty Wap who only has one eye. But he also means the record of having two singles in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, which Eminem holds. Fetty Wap achieved this with My Way and Trap Queen . Despite this, Eminem promises that he won't lose the rap throne that easily again. He pays tribute to the rapper Prodigy , who called him the OG of rap.

The first part of the song was produced by Tay Keith. He interpolates Drake and Blocboy JB's hit Look Alive , as this is a good example of the current trap. Ronny J was responsible for the production of the second part. The music is reminiscent of instrumentals from SoundCloud- Rap.

Reactions

Three days after the release of Not Alike the rapper released Machine Gun Kelly to Disstrack Rap Devil , directed against Eminem. A music video appeared on Worldstar HipHop's YouTube channel a few hours later . Eminem responded again on September 14, 2018 with the song Killshot .
