Song part Artist
refrain Adam Levine
1st verse 50 cents
2nd stanza Eminem
3rd stanza 50 cents

My Life is about the enormous pressure to succeed that 50 Cent, Eminem and Adam Levine have been exposed to since they became public.

In the chorus Adam Levine sings that he would like to run away from his life because everything is getting too much for him and he is confused. But it's like in a film and there is no place where he can hide. 50 Cent raps in the first verse about his meteoric rise in 2003, since his life changed completely. He couldn't trust anyone anymore. Here dissed it, especially the rappers The Game and Young Buck , whom he had helped and had fallen to him as thanks for it in the back. 50 Cent suggests having written texts for you as a ghostwriter . But he continued on his way and also gained wealth as an entrepreneur. In Eminem's verse, he raps about feelings of revenge for people who thought his career was over. This is just the beginning of his comeback and a warning to his critics. He continues to feel committed to rap with full devotion, as he is caught in it like in a vicious circle . He almost wished he had never released his album Recovery , as it had put him back in the limelight and increased expectations. In the last stanza, 50 Cent also settles his critics. He wonders if people have forgotten that he has sold over 40 million records. You should accept that his talent was God given and that he published classics .

production

The beat of the song was produced by the American music producer Symbolyc One. He used a sample of the song Synthetic Substitution by Melvin Bliss.

Music video

The music video , filmed by Rich Lee in Detroit , was released on November 27, 2012. It is meant to metaphorically symbolize the paranoia that comes with being a celebrity .

At the beginning of the video, a helicopter uses its headlight to illuminate a building in which 50 Cent and Adam Levine are located. While he sings the chorus, the front man of Maroon 5 sits behind a wall that is lit by the helicopter. 50 Cent goes rapping through the building while it is lit and finally meets Andre Dirrell , with whom he gets into a Chrysler 300C . You set off to escape the helicopter. Now you can see Eminem rapping on a dark street or meadow and being followed by the light beam of another helicopter. While 50 Cent raps the last verse in the car, someone is watching him on his laptop trying to locate him. All three are now on the run from the helicopters, but in the end they stop in the spotlight.
