Venom ( English for " animal poison ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem , which was released on August 31, 2018 on his tenth studio album Kamikaze . On September 21, 2018 it was also released as a single for download . The song is also part of the soundtrack for the film of the same name .
background
On August 30, 2018, Eminem posted a 15-second snippet of the song on Twitter . Seven hours later, his album Kamikaze was released unannounced , which includes the song Venom as the last track.
Content and production
Eminem uses mostly puns , comparisons and metaphors in the song , where he slips into the role of the main character of the film, who attacks his victims like a parasite .
Venom was produced by Eminem himself in collaboration with the music producer Luis Resto , who took over the additional production.
Music video
A music video for the song was released on October 5, 2018. It is a continuation of the video for the song Fall . You see a destroyed CD from Eminem's previous album Revival , which is picked up by a youngster. Apparently the CD holds an unknown power within itself. In the bus, the youngster changes and starts rapping the text of the track. One touch transmits the obsession from person to person. At the end of the video, Eminem transforms himself into the creature Venom .
Appearance to Jimmy Kimmel
In an episode of the Jimmy Kimmel show, Eminem rapped Venom on the Empire State Building . The lighting of the skyscraper was adapted to the music, which caused a sensation on social media. The video also shows a dialogue between Eminem and the Mexican comedian Guillermo Rodriguez in an elevator.
